3" is too big for your average A4 1.8t modder (<stg3) so I doubt many companies will make an off the shelf 3" system. There are 0 exhaust shops in your area that do custom work??

3 inch seems like bit of overkill for the A4, and probably could do more harm that good for most applications for the 1.8T. The exhaust piping is not much of a limiting factor, since the headers are the point of most restriction. I think about 2.75 is as big as you'd ever want to go, but 2.25 would probably be ideal. Bigger does not mean better in this case.

Also, I'm surprised you cannot find a shop to do what you want. I'd keep shopping. You can find many custom shops that will do it, just keep hunting. The best places are the back alley joints that mostly work on bikes and the likes.

I will be going stage III+ that is why I want it... Right now I have the Nuespeed G2 and that is fine for what I have done to the car as of now.... But I will be better of with a 3" with stage III+

And as for shops in Buffalo that do exhaust work, It's all junk if you ask me. No one can do mandrel (sp) bends around here..

seriously not one place? may be worth making a little longer drive to find a good spot..
unless, you get saturnines.. you'll still want to chop off the back of the apr cat and get a sick muffler.. depending on what he's got on there..

GHL makes a 3" system but I don't know if they offer a hi flow cat... just the dp back. Actually... I am getting their 2.5" inch system so i will let you know what it costs me and where I got it from if you're willing to come up to Toronto.

All have said that 2.25 - 2.50 is all that is needed. 3.0 inch is NOT going to make a difference in HP gains. The gain is insignificant! Louder if anything and spendy too. And between 2.25 and 2.5 there's nothing huge there either. Anything over stock and especially manderl(sp) bends is the biggie!

he is going stg 3+ big guy... you might try getting a used aftermarket S4 exhaust and then an ATP DP that should be easy enough for your common muffler shop to figure out. not the cheapest route but it would work.... there is one company i have to think of it though.

with his new setup it will make for some good top end though i will venture to say he will lose some hp and torque down low as it will harm his back pressure when the turbo is not spooled up.

ignorance must be bliss.... anything that makes over 350hp can see considerable gains from a 3" exhaust.... you need to read up on your shit before you make statements like that. corky bell maximum boost i would recommend picking it up. s4's run 2.5 stock and 3" aftermarket that is not your run of the mill muscle car but still on there. its common on eclipses too.

and there is a difference between top speed and top end.

We're talking about a Stage III+ kit here. Not exactly a typical A4. Let's all back away from the keyboard and keep this calm.

Well, I'm pretty sure the Stage III kit was rated around 280hp. So, the Stage III+, with the addition of the disco potato, should put out more than that. I have seen any numbers yet though.

Thanks DDQ, some peeps need to read the post better...

Let me try this again. I am stage II as of right NOW with the 2.5 Neuspeed G2 exhaust. That is all fine with what I have going on with the car right now. And yes some of you guys ar right about a 3" exhaust being to much for the average A4.
But in about 6 weeks I will be going stage III+ So if I get a 3" it should give me a little bit more gains.

Again my post is about were I can find a 3" exhaust or have one made up for me, not what size exhaust is better for my car...

    Thanks, Erik

Dude, let it go. The Stage III+ has barely come out yet. This is all new, so up until now no one had a need for a 3" exhaust.

There's a lot of things that tuners offer that are not always the best for our cars. And on the flip side there's other great things for our cars that they don't even offer at all.

    you guys are really funny..
    i'll just say this..
i got a stgIII had a NS G2 exhaust. ran ok, sounded like restricted crap.
went 3inch turbo back with an allied resonator and borla xr-1 muffler. ran much much better, didnt lose anything in the low end and opened it up at the top. no, not top of my speedo, top of my rpms.
everyone jumps on here and throws in little opinions they have "read" and peice them together and get all excited when they see a post it may apply to.
if you dont know what you're talking about, just read and move on or ask a question.
whtbutter, do the 3inch.. you will thank me later. the gt25 and even more so the gt28r pump alot more air than any k03 or k04.

Thanks Silvant, After we spoke I started looking for the 3" set up. And take it from me guys the exhaust clip of Silvants car is sick ( If anyone could host it I'll send it to you)
I think I'm just going to buy what you got going and drive up to Toronto and have them put it on...

Well if you ran a pipe down by the block, around the turbo, right next to the cat and took air from that area, pweh thats realllllly cold.

Well just spoke with GHL and they don't make a 3" just for the VW's and thats it... They were very helpful and said if I can't seem to find a exhaust they would try and make one for me, but they need a A4 to go off of. Plus we all know that is going to cost me some big bucks too do..

So if any of you upstate/Ontario guys know of any good shops that do good work please let me know..

    Thanks,

i'm from toronto, and I had my exhaust installed at Brullen Exhaust. My system is a 2.5" SS mandrel bent one. Talk to Richard, the owner, he is a good guy and does good work. I'm pretty sure they will install a system if you bring it. Also, I do know that they do custom setups, and I'm sure he can do a 3" system for you. So that may be another option for you. I'm happy with my setup so far.

And congrats on that stage 3+!!!

So if any of you upstate/Ontario guys know of any good shops that do good work please let me know..

    Thanks,

Where is GHL located? I'm sure they are NO WHERE near SC... Jeesh, I can't find anyone around here that does mandrel bending either. Don't feel too left out. I'm right there with ya' Erik.

Oh yeah, thanks for the clip. Very cool indeed!

Well I have found the 3" exhaust. Oh and they have a 3.5" too. http://www.tjmmotorsport.com/store/c...cat=667&page=1

This price is out hand $1,917.05 for a fvucking exhaust.. I need to hit the crack pipe if I buy that..

But honestly speeking it is going to cost way to much, if I go with Dahlback... Just going to try some more options....

you need to take a road trip and get yourself a custom setup.... i am sure there are some good places in norcal you could hit up.... or if you wanna hit socal i know of some its kind of a drive though but it would be a fun one with the new S3+ on there.

Wow this is very tempting to do. But I don't think I would want too as much as I do. 1. I would never drive back home, I would have to stay 2. I would end up selling the car and become a beach bum...

But hey if you have a room I'm down.... LOL
