5.25's can fit w\o any work??

I thought all we could do was get a set of 4" to replace the front ....if we didn't get adapters...

btw: any 4" speakers would be able to hook up and install in the stock location, correct?

5.25s will fit rather easily, and you don't need to make adapters, just get some metal strapping and run the strapping from one of the mounting points on the door to one on the speaker. If you do a search you'll find a post that explains what I'm talking about. the stock speakers are 4". The reason you need "adapters" is because stock speakers have 3 mounting points, most aftermarket speakers have 4.

Not exactly man. It'll depend on what year car you have, at least not on my 99. Right now I have some 5.25s up front hooked on by that strapping method, but believe me, its nothing like the diagram pictures. I really should have taken a picture, because I devised another way to make it work, but it is not prettty, god lord it is not pretty.

Anyhow, right now it serves well, but i just found a place that still sells adapters, so i just ordered some: http://caraudiosecurity.com/catalog/...oducts_id+1883
Based in UK, ships worldwide. They also have rear adapters too. Buy them if you're not sure.

I will soon be replacing the hell behind my door panels with these nice looking things. Cross my fingers they also fit and work on my car (from hell). Then finally maybe i can bump in peace.

Any opinions on what I should replace these with? Trying to do this as cheap as possible, but still retain good sound quality. Thanks.

Don't you also need to cut out some of the door panel for the 5.25"? The hole is designed for a 4" speaker so basically without any modifications, the 5.25" speaker would be blasting some of the sound into the door.

Definitely need to get 5.25...these 4" ones produce no mid-bass/bass =(

that depens on the speaker. I had to trim a slight amount off my inner door panel, but it was nothing you would notice from inside the cabin of the car.

Stock 4" on right, new 5.25" on left. I'll fit with some modifications and a mounting adapter or ring. My ring came with the speakers and I just drilled 3 holes in it where the stock mounts are.
