    Whats the lowdown?? Motor question.

    How strong are our motors?1.8 T How well are the internals/bottom end built? How much boost can we safely run everyday?... Bigger turbos? how big can we go..safely...I assume the are all forged internals?....This is my 1st turbo car, so any anwsers to these question would be greatly appriciated..Thanks, Chris

    I have had my 2001 A4 for less than a month and I can't wait to start modding it...

    if you tune it, it will hold power. there have been large amounts of power made on 1.8t engines. in the ~400whp range but its all tuning as for boost people run 24+ psi on apr s3 kits all the time.... the pistons are not forged in these cars though they save that for the s4 internals. neverthless, for a stock bottom end its very stout. the turbo is the part that you have to worry about going south on you. at least with the k03.

    With your car you two bets for turbo upgrades would be the APR Stage 3 and the KO4 with the J31 software. the APR is a bigger turbo.

    J31 is for the 00's not the 01's

    I had a Ko4+FMIC 01, and i ran the Xchip. worked like a charm

    which is why i mentioned the apr kit and not the pes haha...

    whoa there big guy i was just messin around cause i know the PES doesnt run well on the 2001's. it wasnt a shot are you or anything. why is it that the 2001's seem to have issues with the software anyways, what is the major difference in software between ATW and AWM?

    Its all good, my bad. It seems that they have problem with the DBW software. I dont know why but APR has it down.

    I believe there was a post awhile back regarding internals (forged and not). I believe it stated that earlier 1.8t's had forged internals whereas the later models they slowly did away with and dealt with serious cast internals. What I do remember is that Audi has said that double the factory HP (150HP models... to 300 HP) was easy and still maintain a degree of relability. As for overall boost, I'm sure what that would equate to.

    thanks for the info guys! Damn..guess its going to have to be a stage 3 for me. 5 G's is alot of coin though....what is everones feelings on the ko4 upgrade?...1,500 for that turbo and a new program seems pretty reasonable......

    do a search on k04 vs stage III...

    u'll find tons of info,

    but basically whut all argument boil down to is which do u like better... => try to get a ride in a stage III and a K04 and see whut u prefer...

    I have a 99.5 1.8t (150hp ndbw)and i think the engine code is AEB....do you know if it has forged internals?

    lol you think you are getting out for 5 grand for a stg3? not even close..... to run something like that and have a proper set up you need a FMIC (700-1100) and a clutch (flywheel optional) ~1000 w/ LWFW then there is install of all that fun stuff though you could install in the fmic while you are in there. not to mention there are little humpty dumpty things you need like a bypass valve. hence the mod bug.

    as for the k04 most people i know have used it as a stepping stone, they see it as fun and fast at first but then want more.

    I know that the 00-01's have a forged crank, and that the B6's (all of them to my knowledge) have all cast internals..

    i am still searching but iirc actually only the 97's got forged and after that is cast i know my MY2000 does not have forged pistons.

    talk to whtbutterofrage about the apr and mkgy about the PES they will be some of the first people with the new released kits. there are some apr stg3+ one offs running around but iirc they are only on ndbw cars...

    Well I guess I would have to say I like the stage 3 best but at the end of it I'll be 8-10 gs...I gotta win try to win it next year along witheveryone else....LOL
