    Dashboard Lifting on 96 A4

Sup guys, I just picked up a 96 A4 2.8Q the other day in excellent condition with 88K and all service records for $6000. This car is mint aside from the dashboard. I noticed that its starting to lift up on the sides but what bothers me the most is that its starting to come apart at the seam where the passenger air bag panel is. If I put pressure on it I can get it back to its original shape but it wont stay unless I glue it some how. What do you guys think will hold it best without coming apart right away? Should I use some quick drying epoxy or something? I refuse to pay any money for a new dash cuz Im sure this is an easy fix.

you could try some double stick tape, but i'm not sure how long its going to last because of being on your dash and the sun being on it all the time. The problem that i see is that since its so close to your passenger airbag(i'm guess you are talking about the squared section around the airbag), if you were to "glue" or something like that, you might get your passengers airbag stuck, if it ever needed to be deployed. I would hate to hear that you passenger died or was hurt because you wanted to keep your dashboard down. I'm not sure what kind of funds you are pulling in, but you can always get a new one(but that is probably very pricy)

Ya I don't think a couple dabs of glue would keep and airbag from popping out with all that force. Thanks for the reply

You can try using some glue. I've used glue for vinyl tops with great success. Or you can use some spray glue. 3m makes one that works real good. I can't remember which one it is but it's not super77. The trick is to apply it to both surfaces and let it dry then press them together. Btw no airbag is gonna be stopped by some glue.

Hahha, a it's a slang term for something thats "crappy". It's like saying, "it was shitty" except not saying shitty, and saying weaksauce.

No I didn't. By the looks of the way mine was coming up, it looked like the only option was for a new dash. Hahah, thats funny. $$$$!
