changing muffler and leave stock piping

leave stock piping and just changing the stock muffler to like a magnaflow or borla muffler help with flow slightly? As for sound, will it be noticable louder then stock with deep mellow tone. Remus has muffler to but are to expensive, would either a borla or magnaflow muffler sound similar or louder then the remus.

I know people have custom piping with magnaflow with great sound but with just the muffler and stock piping would it sound the same but much quieter?

    thanks guys

I had some universal mufflers. I cut off my stock mufflers and welded those on. Noticed slight difference. Then after while the exhaust was too quiet for me so I chopped off the stock exhaust resonator and put piping in that space which gave me like 1-2psi gain and better high end. Sound was louder and it drones a little cuz the exhaust resonator controls droning but since you don't have it anymore it will drone a bit. Hope that helped..

most people chop right before the resonator and pipe the rest with 2.5" piping and slap on mufflers. if u want ...just pipe it after the DP.. maybe even get a custom DP?
