For you carputer peoples: How did you get Nav+, Pioneer, etc to hook up w/ computer?

To all of you with a computer in your cars, how did you do it? It seems the ones that I have seen run a Pioneer or an Audi Nav + video head unit to a laptop or custom desktop setup in their trunk.

Just curious cuz' I would love to install a carputer in my A4, so I can run winamp or windows media player and have my entire mp3 collection at my fingertips.

Even be nice to have wireless Internet access when I am roadtrippin.....

Any information or links would be much appreciated!

doesn't make sense what you are saying but.... you build a computer get a compatible touchscreen monitor/or not touchscreen if that doesn't bother you. then you buy accessories to connect to your computer, ie radio, gps, or what have you.

You need a headunit that is compatible with the system that you are running

however, i don't think any pioneer/kenwood unit touchscreen feature will interact with the computer's input on the display. Ie, you can't control winamp by touching the screen...

Well, this is what I am talking about. Having your Nav Plus be the monitor and attaching a PC and running Windows on it to have access to programs like Winamp and Windows Media....

Concerning my own link, I would copy this, however this setup is for a B5 S4 with Nav Plus. I was wondering if anyone on the board has done it in a B6 A4 or S4 with Nav Plus or any other mobile screen unit and controls.

well ive been working on making a carputer for another car right now and the hardest thing to find is a proper monitor thats cheap enough, because all of the headunits for cars use RCA inputs while monitors use vga, and the problem with RCA is that the font isn't as good and is near imposiible to read (hyperspeed told me that, but i didn't believe him so i tried it myself, it doesn't work very well) so the easest way for u to add gps or a nav system to ur carputer would be to find a way to hook a gps reciver to a computer, like any computer, not nessarly a carputer. im not sure who offers recivers.

if you use a shuttle pc they come with 2 vga outs. So you can one run to the touchscreen via vga and then run headrests off vga/rca converter. Most of the headrests will piggyback.
