    Angry Timing Belt broke???

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
    Opinions please,
I recently was on vacation and I was driving back and my timing belt broke. I took it to a service center where they are going to replace the timing belt and tensioner. After removing it they found that all my valves are bent and would have to be replaced. My question is, should have any other thing replaceed while they have it all torn apart? So far those are the only problems thay have found. Should I have the water pump replaced with it or any other parts as I do not want anything else to break since this bill is costing me over 4K. I would hope they would catch everything but this place is a back woods garage in Savannah GA, and they do not specialize in Audi's.
    any help would be appreciated.

    Thanks
    Brian from Ohio

you might be better off searching for a new engine to put in it if they are a backwoods place. pistons could have slapped the valves there is a whole slew of other possible issues that go with a broken timing belt.

Have it towed to a dealer. Better off with the dealer working on something that extensive instead of a "back woods" shop. Better safe than sorry. IMO

Wow - I'm at 96K and doing it ffirst part of next month. Good thing that I am covered by warrenty until the 31st. The care will be outside of warenty for 2 days and then it will be replaced.

Sorry to hear - but please follow the advice here and get a new engine. It'll cost you about the same.

bruther, had mine go out at 55k. It was quite a bit cheaper to get a new engine from Ingolstadt than to have them repair your old one.

I wish my timing belt would break. The AFC motor is the shittiest thing Audi ever made (for two years!).
