I know somebody who's a vegetable because of a drunk driver, so I'd say that it's bad. 16 years old, and we don't even know if he can hear or understand what's around him. I think that getting a DUI and going off to jail is a good thing.

I do think the 0.08 BAC limit in CA is low, 0.10 was acceptable and the drop was more of an administrative push rather than a true safety improvement IMO. The time and energy put into dropping the BAC limit in administration could have been better used to catch drunk drivers.

Right now, about 1 in 2000 drunk drivers get caught, not a whole lot. They should probably ramp this up and be more strict about it. Personal opinion...

I say when getting caught driving drunk, the officer should...

A. Punch you right in your fun bag or baby maker, just to drive the point home that what you are doing is completely selfish and stupid.
B. Write you a ticket.
C. Push you down.
D. Drive a hot needle through your pupils
E. Rig up a contraption that slowly lowers your body, face first into the ground from a speeding truck. At like a 15 degree angle so when your nose hits the ground, it slowly grinds away your face.
F. Leave your mess on the road so people that aren't drunk, can drive over it again and again thinking it's a dead deer.
G. Take your car and donate it to the family of a drunk driver accident victim.


That should take care of things....

I can't beleive that they let ****ers off the chain with a measily fine and probated license for a first offense. **** that shit. Their going to do it again...sweet christ. They just wait untill they mame or kill someone to really punish them strongly(still weak) which is bullshit, because obviously it's too late and they've already destroyed someones life.

If you get caught drunk, and I mean wasted, not a couple tick's above the limit, im talking plastered, they should ban you from driving for the rest of your life. There.

After reading that, some of you may think that that is to harsh. So...there needs to be a happy medium, that is leaning more towards my side of view ;-) So what I propose is that we don't ban them from driving, we ban them to driving only those stupid scooter things around. Except make them quiet, so they're not annoying. You can't do much damage with one of those. And if your drunk, your not going to make it very far before you fall over and hurt yourself. Which is funny.

I got pulled over for drinking and driving. Stupidest thing i could have ever done. I am EXTREAMLY luckily i didn't get ticketed, or else i would ahve been looking at a big ass fine, comunity service, and no license(for a while). After that i know ever to drink and drive. I know a lot of people who still do it, and good luck tht them, it just scares me to think that you can't control a car and could possibly kill another person.
