    Help w/ Clutch & Flywheel

    Girl i know has a '98 A4 2.8 and needs a new clutch & flywheel. Its a stock car so she doesnt need anything too sporty. Anyone know of a cheap aftermarket clutch & flywheel? Dealer is wanting $3200 for the clutch & Flywheel replacement.

    Just about any aftermarket clutch setup is gonna cost you alot les than that. Check AWE, PES and a few other tuners for prices. Many places sell the stock replacements for next to nothing these days.

    are the clutches for the 1.8t & the 2.8 interchangable?

    no, the 2.8 uses a larger diameter disc. The 1.8 is a 228mm clutch disc and the 2.8 is a 240mm disc. Most places sell both a 1.8T and a 2.8 version of their clutch kit.

    supreme power parts sells the stock sachs clutches get one from them and have a reputable mechanic install it.... my stage 4 w/ 12lb flywheel was 1400 installed out the door installed by vw specialties who is a very reputable shop in the socal area.... 3200 is a joke.

    get the stocker resurfaced... how do you know that the flywheel is even glazed? flywheels on these cars are pretty strong so you might not even need to do it. if you cant do that call vw specialties and see if they have any laying around they would probably cut a pretty good deal on one if they have it.
