problem with cigarrete lighter

hey all, was wondering if someone could help me out... my cigarette lighter does not work at all...i replaced the fuse so i thought it would work but no dice ... also if anyone knows where i can purchase the whole housing again for real cheap that would be awesome...

I dropped a coin in mine and it started zapping. I had to take it to dealer to fix it. sorry cant help.

me neither, I use it to charge my phone though so I never have the lighter in it. Coin just fell in.

I think there's a fix for that on AW in the tech area.

my cigarrete lighter works.. but if i try to plug in something as a radar or any other device it doesnt work.. i dunno wuts the problem wit that...

I keep my coins in that POS double cup holder box. My phone sits in the 'ciggerette box holder' behind the lighter.

Its most likely a coin under it jamming it. get some thin wire, something like a coat hanger and hook them out. or take it to dealer, they replaced my whole ashtray even after fixing it.

Hah i smoke in my car . I wonder why nobody else smokes in an Audi? If it was a ferrari I'd still smoke in it , its just a car :p

Im resurrecting this thread to get an answer to the question. My cig lighter doesn't work either. I dont smoke but yesterday I bought a gps (mio c230) and when I plugged the adapter into the cig lighter it did not work. The car was on, the light turned red, and everything. Im leaving for a trip on Monday and the battery is only good for 3 hours.

does the cig. lighter work with the factory lighter? I found that a lot of chargers that plug into the lighter hole don't fit correctly and won't charge. I know the lighter in fact works, BECAUSE I SMOKE, but there are several accessory chargers that don't seem to connect correctly in the lighter. Sometimes I have to wiggle them around to get a good connection and other times they just don't work at all.

Yeah I wiggled the charger around too and it still didnt work and I also tried putting in another charger in and that one did not work either.

I bought an adapter off ebay that's meant to plug into your existing lighter so you can have two things plugged in at once. Then I stripped the wires and hooked it up to the 75x terminal behind the dash. Now I have three working cig plugs. I put the dual one in that empty space on the floor behind the center radio console so it can't be seen. I have my sat radio and iPod thing plugged into it so they turn on and off with the car. Works pretty good.
