i said f-it to car covers and bought one of those car tents.

of your car is not 100% clean, you will scratch your clearcoat everytime you put on and take off the cover .

I had a car cover made for my M3. It was of great quality and held out rain and snow. It was lockable too so nobody could steal it. However, like Wilafur mentioned, my clearcoat got damaged. I had put it on the same way every time and that meant the last part I pulled on that was relatively tight, scraped the paint. It was either the left or right front quarter panels. Well, it was only after 3 months of use but it was enough damage already. It took a good 4 waxings before the two parts got remotely nicer looking. Granted, I got a really heavy, thick guage material because I needed more than just sun blocked out here in NJ. In CA though, I think you could get away with a much thinner material for just blocking the sun and dust. I wouldnt think that you would have too much of a problem with that on your paint. Plus, thinner material would make it a lot cheaper.

Obviously a tent would be the most viable option, but if you are parking this in a lot as opposed to a driveway then you might not have the needed room to set one up. I wouldnt think they would protect as well from dust either. Anyway, I say get one and try it, if you dont like it, sell it. Just check out Griots, they sell a few different kinds.

if you want a really nice car cover, i've heard the one made by stratmosphere.com is very nice.

be careful with the clearcoat though.
