Strange sound

When I shut my car off, I hear a sound coming from just behind the climate control panel. It sounds like a hard drive accessing. It goes on for about 5 seconds most of the time. Nothing what so ever is on in the car when this happens.

Any ideas?

I've notice the samething going on with my car also. My father has a Mercedes ML SUV and it does the same "hard drive" sound also, I don't know what it is exactly

hmmmm my car is making a funky noise....but i think it's high time for me to install my bailey bpv. hopefully that fixes it.

not to mention i ALSO hear a rattling sound when i start my car. hmm it's always something....if it's not my honda, it's my audi. *Sigh*

it is not a fan under the hood, is there a cooling fan inside the a/c control panel?

My car also makes a whining sound, but that comes only under acceleration :)

resurrecting a post from 5 years ago, finally found the answer!

I removed my glove box assembly last week to replace the door and I found the answer to this.

There is a blower motor behind there for the climate control and it has a "door" that moves depending if you have it on recirculate interior or not. Turns out recirc is the default position, so when you turn the car off, it goes back to that position. And when you turn the car on, even if you don't turn on the climate control, it goes to the outside air position.
