LOL the forever battle of chips. I run GIAC, my brother runs APR, my buddy runs REVO, my other friend runs MTM. all good companies. Just depends what you like more and what your looking for. APR has the multiple programs available at the touch of a button. GIAC has the raw power. Either one you'll be happy with.

well i run a APR stage one with EMCS and i like it, although the new GIAC chip has very similar functionality that is controled from a remote control instead of through the cruise control stalk like the APR. I hear more low end boost is had with the GIAC chip but I have not had to the chance to ride in/drive one yet. If you are planning on doing K04's and all the RS4 goodies most people i know do MTM stage 3. Its all really your own opinion though. try to find some people who have them and get rides or test drives from them and make the decision based on what type of performance upgrade your looking for.

Why say that? I have had mine for almost 2 years. I have stock programing, 93 octane and 100 octane. I had my turbos replaced with it in,, so that says alot about its stealthness when it comes to the dealer. Why don't I have GIAC? Just because I am happy with the APR system and APR has a shop 15 minutes away from here. Either way you are gonna like the new found power.

X Chip is stronger by far. It has more torque and a much stronger "seat of the pants feeling" I beat a s4 that was running apr race chip(100octane) and i was running the x chip(93 octane chip) on 100 octane. So without the timing advance of the apr race chip i beat it with the timing of a pump gas chip.
Giac also has the ibe chip switch which can be had with x chip, xr(100 octane drag chip) and xrr(100 roadrace chip). Sorry but the apr is weak sauce compared to the giac. And another thing is, i have raced a 100 octane programed apr s4 with my xr giac and blew its doors off. The xr program is extremely strong. Its just raw, balls out torque, about 410+ ft lbs. Thats what really makes a car feel fast and be enjoyable to drive. IIRC the apr 100 octane puts out less the 390 FT lbs. Trust me, on the xr you'll be shifting for second right after you let the clutch out. Its pretty brutal. Used to spin all four halfway through second.

the car stock will throw codes. The x chip i didnt ever have any problems. With xr and running test pipes instead of cats i used to throw a cel most of the time i was driving. It didnt effect the performance though. You will be fine with x.

i guess i dont understand what you are saying here. why would a stock s4 throw codes? and i would be wary of any chip install that throws codes as it comes from the manufacturer? I guess more importantly, what codes is it throwing?

The 2.7 Bi turbo is just know to throw codes. So it doesn't need a chip to do it, it does fine on its own : )
