Well from what Ive read protocolds kit is all OEM RS6 parts so you know the parts are high quality. The other option overboostpsi's kit is a aftermarket kit the only things I see that would make them better is the price and the different ranges of lighting levels he's offering.

    OEM vs After market.
    and
brightest set up would be 4100K ~ 4300K.
if your temp of the bulb goes up, it creats nicer color but you lose lumens. (brightness)

protocol's kit is probably harder to install since it is OEM and designed to be put in an OEM HID equiped car. Overboostpsi's is deisgned to be attached with out cutting your wires. Personally i wish i went with overboostpsi's kit, but it wasn't around when i bought from protocol

It's mainly the quality. Mine are made in Germany by Hella and his are made in China.

I have listed the Audi part # on my thread and you can check with any audi dealer and see how much they worth over there. Even parts discounter like http://www.impexfap.com have quoted 1 single ballast itself cost $406.

In terms of waterproof, both my OEM ballast and his aftermarket kits have rubber gasket inside but I would not claim it is waterproof to raise the sales.

You know Audi OEM is not going to use cheap quality ballast. You are just not suppose to wash your ballast.

In terms of installation, it really depends on how you are going to install it. There are many many different ways you can install. A lot of my customers have done it without drilling.

1 thing that buyer should be aware of is how you can get replacement parts if your seller stop selling the kits later on. You want support and you want it GOOD. My kits are standard OEM parts and you know even if I am out of business, you know you can get the parts anywhere.

Consider all aftermarket HID kits are illegal now, many venders are quickly selling off thier inventory. Most aftermarket kit has proprietary bulbs and connectors. Chances to find parts later on could be a headache. You guys can check SPP. They stop selling anything aftermarket now because of the legal reason. All they carry now is D2S base kit to upgrade stock xenon.

Even SPP kit is china made, you guys can talk to BrokenXenon and ask him his experience with those kits. A buyer of mine trying to get replacement bulbs from SPP and he cant even get it from them because they have discontinued the aftermarket kits.

I can easily sell those aftermarket bulb and ballast because they are everywhere but I have decided not to. They are pretty easy to get and they are much cheaper and I can actually make more money in selling them. But since we are driving some fine German car so i thought OEM Parts is more suitable in this market.

Hey guys...ProtoDoID has a good set of oem kits and it's very hard to compete with high quality oem.

I'm trying to sell kits for those who might want something different and I can always provide you with the information on getting replacement parts for you kits if you buy them from me.

These kits are DOT approved in China, therefore, will not go out of business in China and will always make parts for the kits.

Here in the US it's a bit different since people are using these kits improperly and DOT has become more strict on the use of the kits.

What ProtoCoID is say is correct, but you can still use the kits if installed properly. I do not have any problems with my kits in regards to the leagal aspect.

This company is also making D2S kits for those who get ecodes and want to buy xenons for them.

I would like to clarify one thing about my kits though. The ballast is water resistant, but not water proof. I never said the ballast is water proof. The wiring harness connectors are water proof.

Please make a not of this because I dont' want people to get the impression that I'm saying the kit is water proof so I can boost my sales.

    Thanks and good luck.

Honestly, i think most people install HID does not care about legal.

However, the question of legal concern was raised because now it is illegal to sale aftermarket kits, a lot of venders would stop importing them/selling them and support is going to be a problem, let alone the quality concern. The best example is SPP, they used to be one of the source for HID product "Conversion" and they stop carrying it anymore and only carry d2s compatible product.

Even if it Illegal to sell, I think Overboost is ok unless someone decides to be lame and rats him out...... or some Dick Cheese inspector from some Dick Nutt agency decides to figure out where kits are coming from....

    Good Point. Well said.

If worst comes to worst, I can always support D2S kits and everyone would just have to go with xenon ecodes.

Let you guys know that I got my kit from ProtoCoID. Love the kits, and if you mount the ballast underneath the e-codes, its a perfect fit. The nice thing is that with Proto's kits is that once installed, you can't tell that they are there unless you turn on the lights.

Also, during my install I managed to arc one of the bulbs. Melted the ingitor and ruined the bulb. ProtoCoID stepped up, only sold me the damaged parts that I needed instead of a full kit, and got them to me right away.

    Got my kit from ProtocolD:

No complaints whatsoever. Waterproofing is achieved with a tube of silicone. 6 months, no problems. The warranty he provides is excellent as well.

Hi I want to talk about my experiency whith HID.
I had the same kit that protocol sales installed on my car the oem kind. I have to say I'm very satisfied whith it good quality and no problems. But a little hard to install.
Today I got from overboost my h11 kit for my fogs on 6000k.
The install was just plug and play! the easiest thing in the world.
and i love it. I also got a pair of d2s bulbs 6000k from overboost to change the ones that I allready had (4300k oem), so it wouldn't look different.
The light output on the 6000k is awesome, when you look at the bulbs it whiter than the 4300k oem one. But i didn't notice any loss of illumination to the road.
the fog's look awsome. and the quality is great.

I can give some feedback on OVERBOOST, he is a great seller, also great service, and i'm very satisfied whith the quality of the kit.

I think that if you are really looking for HID is more about your choice. But this time i prefered a little upgrade in the color, variety, perfect fit, and a easier install.

I'm sure that Overboostpsi's stuff work ok but, there's nothing brighter or more reliable than the OEM ballasts and bulbs. Personally, I refuse to buy any xenon gas bulbs unless they were made by Philips or Osram. Philips is still my first choice due to their design specs.

Asia made bulbs are made using less quality control and R&D. They are essentially copying the core designs of the OEM bulbs and building them with cheaper materials and a larger variety of bulb bases to allow installation into non-HID compliant headlamps.

I will admit that my very first HID kit was "made in China" BUT, the kit only included Philips LVQ-212 ballasts and Philips 85122 (OEM D2S) bulbs. The only part that was actually made in china was the wire harnesses to mate the ballasts to the car's exsisting headlamp connector. Even the 12V relays were Bosch brand...

Anyhow, no offense to Overboostpsi but, china made products lack some refinement and thus, lack in performance.

I have to say that Jorge (overboostpsi) Stands by his product and I can attest to that. He is a great guy to deal with and one of the most honest. I have his kit and it works excellent and is a worthwhile upgrade for the price. I would post pics but I can't find my camera charger. I would like to say that I have the 6000K kit and it does not look rice at all. The kit came packaged very well and like I said I was impressed with his customer service. Thanks again Jorge!!!
