    MTM Stage 3/250hp?????????

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Is this possible with a KO4? Has anyone seen any dyno numbers to back up this claim??? They say the setup is TUV approved, however, I'm having a hard time accepting the numbers based on a KO4, injectors, exhaust and sofware. I think Eurocode has a great EO5 kit and it produced a respectable 221hp on the MAHA with a testpipe........does MTM know something we don't????? I would love to see dyno numbers for this set up.....

It is possible with a K04. It's the 270hp claims you want to be suspiscious about.

Jet Jockey will be dynoing his Stage 3 soon, hopefully. There is also "bhvrdr" in FL with the Stage 3, but he has yet to dyno it. My Stage 2 came up really short and I'm still trying to get it resolved.

This E05/REVO might be a great choice for the $$$.

To compare the two fairly, you have to look at my dynojet numbers which were 214.9 HP to the wheels.

E05 is deffiantely better choice than SK04(with NS tuning) or MTM.
This comes from an SK04 owner. Car felt slow and slugish with low RPM pinging till it got tuned by Dave@ecode, now its the same as E05, but I had to spend extra money on REVO software.
Should have went E05 route to begin with, could have saved some money.

To be fair, the MTM has yet to be dyno'd and it also is a kit that is supposed to come "as is" without needing any tuning whatsoever. However, this is subject to a lot of debate.

Where MTM differs from other kits is the inclusion of their proprietary cat/downpipe which is a large diamter and has a highlflow cat.. which allows greater number in HP than an advertised E05.

You also have to take into account that while the E05 and sk04 are attractive alternatives to the K04, the K04 is a proven turbo and has been around for quite awhile in both stock and aftermarket guises.

If the E05 and SK04 prove to be as reliable and more powerful, by all means they are the better turbos.
    Currently:
    2018 GT3 Touring - Graphite Blue Metallic
2016 McLaren 675LT - Mexico Blue with Roof Scoop
2019 BMW M4 Convertible - Yas Marina Blue Competition Package

    Will be missed: 2001.5 Audi S4, 2004 Audi A4, 2004 Audi A8, 2008 Audi RS4, 2016 Porsche Cayman GT4, 2018 Porsche GT3.2, Mercedes C63 Black Series, McLaren 12C Spyder

I agree that MTM has to be dyno'd but on the other hand there is no sutch a thing as "as is" software cuz every car is different and the only way to get max out of it is to get it custom tuned. As far as know REVO is the only one with tunable software, either by you (SPS3) or by tuner (Lemmiwinks)

    Rich,

I have learned something about the E05 that I simply cannot revile because a lot suit is already in progress. But, I can tell you this, the E05 is a proven turbo and USED by VAG on stock cars!!! That is all I can tell you. But know this; the E05 is just as reliable as the K04. Too bad the same cannot be said of the SK04. As far as the MTM downpipe and cat, I stick with the test pipe from EuroCode. Makes more power then the MTM, costs A LOT less, and come smog time, it is easy to replace it with the stock cat. You know how I feel about MTM, it is just over priced TUV is great, but not the end all be all approval and it means nothing to CARB. So passing smog may not be as easy as people think with the MTM cat.

If that's true, that would be bad for MTM. Given the fact that Matt on this board has gotten abotu 238 crank from K04, Jetta injectors, and software.. all for less than 1500 I believe, MTM needs to step up to the plate and rethink their tuning packages.

They must have used a "DynoJet correction factor"

Ha ha! But ya'll do know that correction factors are basically a number to mulitply your actual HP to let you know what your car would be putting out in the standard reference situation. That situation being 77 degrees F, 29.235 Inches- Hg, at sea level with 0% relative humidity. The fact that the Dynojet may read higher numbers probably has more to do with its software and design but that's just a guess.

I posted this link on Villains E05 results thread but I'll post it here too. Really good info on dyno's and correction factors.
