Re: I'm officially in the A6 family now!!

I was able to get the price down to $22k on this car. This was fair to me since many other A6 2.7T 6spd cars with lesser options were going for $23k or more. In fact there's several 2003 cars with CPO that were listed at $24,900 with 50K on the odo too. This one was the champ though just due to the options.

Hands down, the sport seats are the best OEM seats that I've had yet. I'm sure the RS4's recaros would be better but, that's still out of my league.

I'm learning now that this ECU has the immobilizer circuit and I'm kinda stuck with this ECU. I had wanted to buy a salvage ECU and chip that one but, it seems that can't be done.

I'm currently working on numbers and figuring out downtime on getting this chipped. I'll get some DV's too and that's all for this summer.

I'm buying/building a new house this fall so I have to keep some $$ on hand for that.

No need for downtime. If you use GIAC or REVO you can upgrade the ECU without the need to remove it. It should cost about $600.00 I did Revo and now will do GIAC to get a few more power.

Re: I'm officially in the A6 family now!!

Thanks for the warm welcome guys! I called AWE today and it looks like I'll be going GIAC as I originally planned. I'll just do the 93oct x-chip and a stock tune with the use of the flashloader. They informed me that discounts will be offered at Waterfest and free installation so, I'm holding out till July 21st..

Besides, it gives me a few weeks to learn the car's feel before it goes into beast mode.

The thing that puzzles me is that the GIAC software is rated 312hp/389lbft where the APR chip is rated 318HP/382lbft.

So, I'm really curious how much difference there really is. I know the GIAC file goes to 1.2bar down low and drops to 1.0bar by redline.

Is the APR file only 1.0bar? I'm having a hard time understanding how they achieve the same range of power as GIAC with 3Psi less boost. Timing alone can't make up the difference.

Congrats on the car, I went from a 99 2.8 A4 to my 2004 A6 2.7T 6-speed. I actually tried making a deal with Manheim for your car and the lowest they'd go was $23,100 last month, but I wouldn't pay that since I knew how much they paid for it at auction. I got my 04 for $22K with 20,000 miles silver/ grey with the sport seats, I love this car, but I do like the Dolphin Grey better...we'll see when I get my 18's and tint on the car.

No kidding?! So what did they pay for the car? I figured that they got it for $20K at the auction. I also told them that when they kept asking for $22,900. Of course they denied it up and down.

I'll admit, you got way better mileage on your car. As of last week my warranty is offically over...

Just got my Bentley CD in the mail today. I'm fully prepared for the worst now.

Sorry I missed your post, I was getting married on the 30th. They paid $19,900 if I remember correctly, but then they put some cleaning work into it and probably changed the tires so you got a good deal. Plus yours has parktronic and I think something else that mine doesn't. My warranty runs out in August so I'm taking it in this Thursday to get looked at. My rear sunshade motor is already out and something feels funny in the front suspension when I make u-turns or turns into parking places.

Yeah, they were kind of pricks. I still had my A4 and they were asking what I wanted for it on trade. I said about $8K and the used car manager laughed at me and said that the MMR (which is the auction pricing) was only $4,000 on the car and I'm crazy if I want that much for the car. so I said, fine, the MMR on this car is $21,000...sell it to me for that. He told me that's not how it works...so I quite trying to buy the car.

Yeah, the guy was Patrick Reddinger. He was a dumbass. I smelled the BS right through the phone when he spoke to me.

He left me on hold for 5mins to "check with his boss" and then clearly asked me, "How much do you think we paid for this car?". I said right out, "Twenty Thousand Dollars.". He simply said, oh no, much more than that. I giggled and said "Um..ok.".

I will have you know that they did infact put tires on the car. They installed USED ones. They have big chunks of rubber missing from the front edges on some spots. The detailing was PITIFUL, in fact they should be ashamed. They essentially rinsed the motor and interior in silicone dressing, which was a complete nightmare to fully remove. I had to rub the whole car by hand with Griot's "Paint Prep" last week to get all the silicone off the body panels. The claybar picked up the last of the tar and gunk that was on the paint. The car has a nice buttery surface again.

If it weren't for the level of options on this car, I'd have never even called Manheim Imports.

Congrats on the new ride! Nice to find a rare 6-speed with sport, not many of those floating around. What other mods besides the chip?

Have you considered the H-sport sways? They improve the cornering SOOOO much! You will not be disappointed!

Re: I'm officially in the A6 family now!!

i just picked up the car for my girlfriend from used car dealership, and went pretty much through the same BS, 01 Volvo s60 2.4t 60000, i gave them my price and after 2 weeks they called me that they can match it, before people did not know much about those auctions, now more and more info is coming out. Plus they know that A6 with 6 speed will not sell fast, there was one when i was picking up s60, and the guy said it is already half a year that they have it on the lot, 2001 with less miles and money then i got my a6
anyways i think u still got a really good deal!

That's too bad about the detailing. From the pictures online it looked really clean. Do your sport seats make a lot of noise? The leather constantly makes noise as I drive from my shirt and the passengers shirt rubbing on the leather. Quite annoying, but worth have the sport seats.

I had this issue but, the cause was the seatbelt recepticle. It just needed to be rotated a bit and it's nice and quiet again.

Other than that, the car is pretty damn quiet. Only noise I have right now is my crap tires. They make that "chi chi chi chi chi chi" noise on the highway. Most people wouldn't notice it but, I'm extremely picky about things like that.

Once these Hankook pieces of junk are worn, I'll switch back to Continentals again. ContiExtremeContact = awesome all-season tire.

Vimal, I had the rattle too. I was my sunshade. When I got my car the sunshade was not working properly and it was not fully retracting into the rear deck. Audi of Bernardsville replaced it under warranty. Here's the parts list:

    Shade assembly: ~$700
    Shade motor: ~$250
    Shade Control Unit: ~$150

It took them about 4hrs to replace the shade and it's components. This is because they had to completely strip all the trim from around the rear window and then the rear desk to get the shade assmebly out. There is no other way to get it out.

Brett -- The shade is working properly on my car.. So the dealer is not going to change the shades because its making it making a little bit of sound..

That's an expensive sun shade.. oh my god.

That's not it...it's the leather. My A4 rubbed on the center console, but these don't touch. It's my clothing rubbing against the leather. I'll try some leather oil.

Re: I'm officially in the A6 family now!!

Having a dealers license and going to Manheim, Adesa, and Copart auctions on a daily basis pisses me off to see what these dealers ask for some of these cars. But the worst is what they want to give on trade. The 4,000 they would give you would be equalled to getting the car for free after the deal is done.So trust me they got the car for less than 19,900. More like 17,500 is what they got it for plus showroom preping.
