How can I make Cigarette lighter turn off with ignition?

The other day I installed an XM Sat radio receiver in my car, and it plugs into the cigarette lighter. The problem is that the cigarette lighter is always on even when the car is off so I have to manually turn the sat Receiver on and off every time (I'm to lazy to do this every time) to avoid draining my battery. Well the other day I bought an extra cig lighter outlet thingy, My question is would it be possible for me to wire this extra outlet to the hot and ground wire of my CD player so that it only has power when the car is on? Or is their some other way to do it better? I want to leave the original Cig outlet like it is so I can charge my phone and Bluetooth headset with the car off. Thanx

cut the positive wire for the accesory outlet and bundle it up really good with electrical tape, run that wire to the 75X terminal underneath of the knee bolster...

Yeah but I want the stock outlet to stay the way it is. I want to add another second outlet just for the that shuts off with the ignition, This outlet would be just for the Sat radio. How can I do this?

Wire the new plug to the 75x location under the driver side of the dash. That should then make the plug turn on/off with the key. There is a ground block nut just above the drivers kick panel and just in back of the hood release latch.

Hey, Just finished wiring it all up. The grounding nut was hard as hell to get off, wasn't much room to work with either. Anyways works great. Thanx for the help guys.

Yeah its pretty tight in both spots. Easy way of doing it is to use a T-tap connector on one of the ground wires at the ground block and then a male(spade) connector on the wire you are running to the new plug.

Just the thought of that sort of stuff makes me shiver!! It is a pet peeve of mine for people to butcher a stock wire harness unless they absolutely have NO other choice...

Yeh my cigarette lighter always turns off with the car....

    ?

Either that or my radar detector senses the key has been removed and turns itself off.

T-taps dont suck if used correctly. What does suck is "scotchlocks".
