Wagons/SUVs for under 32k

My sister is looking for a new car and she wants something large enough to haul all of her shit around in. I'm trying to steer her clear of SUVs, but she doesn't want a wagon that'll make her look like an old woman. She also wants to stay away from "flashy" cars. Any advice? Cars can be new or 1-4 years used.

a6 avant's are underpowered, but might be worth a shot?

volvo v50(? is that the new one?)
volvo v40 (old body style)
volvo cross country (super sweet, i love those)
toureg (suv, but a sweet one. too pricey though?)

oh, those mazda wagons are pretty nice also.
the mp5 and then the 5 door mazda 6 look good.
the new saab (wrx based) 9-2 or something like that
wrx or the new legacy wagon looks super nice. i might check one of those out.
