    bay area versus san diego

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
right now i'm in the bay area. but contemplating about moving to san diego. any convincing words for either way? not necessarily just talking about the audi group in these place but just these places in general to live and to work. please dont' mention LA. no offense, but i think LA is just a good place for me to visit, not for me to live. so let's keep it b/w SD or SF area. either way, i need to make a decision to go or stay soon. and i'm teetering. could use some convincing to push me towards one way or the other. thanks.

There are way more females down in SD, that's for sure, but the job market isn't so hot. Not great here either, but SD is mostly biotech and pharmaceuticals. This is of course not including the regular service industry jobs, which are everywhere... Good schools down that way as well. And of course they have even less in the way of seasons as we do, it's almost always in the 80s there, year round! These are all broad generalizations though.

What are you looking to do? SD is a great place to live, but so is The Bay.

SD all the way! I have been all over the U.S. and San Diego is still one of favorites. I have lived here my whole live. Anything and everything you want is here. I love San Fran too, but I don't know if I would want to live there.

that's a rough one. the only other place I'd want to live than san diego is SF (or mammoth).

sd: warmer weather, you can actually surf / hang out at the beach if you like. it NEVER rains. decent mtns are 2.5 hrs away (strong emphasis on decent, big bear) and good ones are 6 hrs away. you have mex right here and the desert / dunes if you like that stuff. LA's right up the way if you want to go see shows / etc (barely any come here, sd kinda sucks for culture) and the people are generally nice. lots of surfers (good or bad, your choice) you have to drive everywhere you go because the city's so spread out. the public transportation's kinda a joke, but it's getting better

sf: super rad city. GOOD mountains are 2 hrs away. shows / bands / etc goes there. lots of culture / stuff to do. lots of hippies (good or bad, your choice). funny bums. haight street + amoebe records. rains a lot but it's green (sd is beigh / brown most of the year). water's ridiculously cold year 'round and there's great whites chillin anyways.

either way you're good to go. both places are sick like anth said.

housing prices are absurd in both areas.

like what Anth said, job market is limited there so if that's not gonna be a factor then go for it, i used to live there for 3 years, commute from mira mesa to san marcos for work but i loved it! weather, women and beaches are the best , ... i would move back there anytime, that if i can find a job in my field and pay as much like here in the bay area good luck.

I was expceting some sort of challenge from this thread title.

SD used to be much more laid back and certainly less expensive than SF. Now, the lines are getting a little blurry between the two. The weather can't be beat in SD but there is more culture in SF. The job market really depends on what you do.

I considered moving to SF for awhile myself but SD is a hard place to leave.

For sure! Mexican food here is the absolute best anywhere. I wouldn't leave here just because of that.

The weather in San Diego sucks, and so is the fishing. Bayarea owns SD in those areas as well. Its nice that SD is close to TJ, but I can see TJ getting old if you go there too often. Standing in a longass line drunk and needing to pee at 8am to get back in the USA sucks.

Lets just say, I got lucky I wasnt thrown in jail.

"The weather in San Diego sucks"
huh? are we talking the same san diego here?

wait... maybe you're trying to get people not to move here (which would make housing prices fall and I could buy a place) so, yeah, the weather sucks here. horrible. move to new england.

Ken - I didn't make the burrito run last night. I was considering it, I mean, don't think I wasn't serious, but I decided to pass . Filipino food, huh? All I've had so far as Filipino food is turon and lumpia (essentials at all parties hosted by Filipinos, haha) but those are both so good that it's a little crazy.

Dawn - AD-ALBERTOS? Seriously? Wow. Um, time to come to SoCal and get the real thing

I live in SD its the bomb I love it. So many things to do. Like everyone says the weather is awsome especially if you hate cleaning your car every other day.Chicks are PREMO here. If you live by Rancho Santa Fe your garenteed to see a $80 thousand+ car everyday which is always nice. I suggest you move in soon bc house prices are always on the rise. A MAJOR PLUS TRAFFIC IS WAY BETTER AND YOU DONT HAVE TO DEAL WITH ALL THOSE HILLS IN SF. Most importantly 14 IN-N-OUTS. More to come......

Where the hell are you clowns basing your better weather from. I been down to LA/SD in both June and August and the weather there sucked ass compared to da BA (well maybe expcet for frisco, its always cold in frisco whenever i go up there), so actually i can only speak of San Jose's behalf. So in conclusion SD weather = sucks shit compared to SJ weather. End transmisson.

I was visiting my marine friend near camp pendalton. (DEL MAR something street if i recall) So costal I guess, Yes it was all overcast all day of the week (and not just for a few hours). Everyday it looked and felt like it was going to rain. Pretty crappy for "vacation" weather. The day I finally went home to SJ it was immediatly warm and sunny, which i prefer (the keyword is sun). The last time i went to SD the sun finally came out, and it got pretty warm, which was good because we went to da beech booyyee.

Yeeeeeah, that's called the "marine layer" and it's prevalent in June, so it's called "June Gloom". Un-f*cking-fortunately, it's STILL around, but I guess we're not far enough in july to be past it. Yeah, it's really annoying, especially living on the coastline. You're just like "WHERE THE FVCK IS THE SUN ALREADY IT'S JULY!?!?!?!"

    *ahem*

sorry, just gettin sick of the marine layer

as for OC, I'd like to like in South OC, maybe like Laguna area or Newport maybe. Huntington and stuff is nice, too, but I'd prefer to stay 949
