    engine coolant sensor code question

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
While driving yesterday my car through an engine code. I got my buddy to VAG it and it said engine coolant temperature sensor. He then reset the fault and since then, no new codes. Do you think that once it throws the code for that, it never does it agian? If it really is bad, will it throw the code again? I have driven it three times since then, (about 15-20 minutes each time) and no new codes. I am gonna replace it when I get time to do my cam tensioner seals (I know an Audi mechanic who said he would watch over me and help out to make sure I dont screw up). I probably wont get around to it for a month though. Should I be ok until then as long as the fault code doesnt come back up? Thanks in advance.

I'd just change the sensor yourself. I think you can get a new one from ECS for about $10. Relatively simple install, I think there's plenty of write-ups on AW.

I would do it asap. That first code is just a sign of bad things to come if left unattended. Search for it, and you'll see others that had the same problem.

Thanks for the help. I decided I would just take the time and do it this weekend hopefully. The sensor, plus clip and gasket was a whopping $7 from the dealer. It was cheap, OMG !!! Yes, I was surprised. I will post how the install goes.
