    Question Top tether LATCH

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Would anyone know what the part number is for the top tether anchor for the LATCH system in a 1999.5 A4? I called AoA and they do not even have a part number for it. And the dealership I called was describing some major work that needed to be done in order to install it . Like yeah I can't screw that on myself. If anyone knows any information I would be appreciative

Last I checked LATCH system was introduced in 2003 on most cars. I don't even see where you could install the tether on the rear deck anyhow. Are you certain that there's a place to screw in the rear deck tether?

I currently have to wrap the upper latch belt up and behind the rear seat and clip it onto one of the tiedown rings in my trunk. Totally sucks. My wifes car is a MY 2003 and it has latch so, she has it easy.....

    Yup I'm an ass....

They do make a LATCH retrofit kit for the B5 Sedan and Avant.

The Bentley manual shows the install procedure for the lower strip and the upper tethers.

It isn't as easy as screwing it in though. It has to be riveted in place with a pop rivet gun. Luckily I have one and a whole kit of different sized rivets.

I'll see if the TSB section of the manual has any part numbers.

well for my car I already have the part they rivet (go figure why the tether anchor didn't just come with the car) I found the TSB it's 69-97-01. I only need 4 parts rather than the 6 they refer to. Thanks
