Don't ask for times, because unless you know LACR, you know that it is literally the slowest track in the country. Just know that I got pulled on by a stock Mk5 GTI... blown DV ftl

Mid-high 15s... Trapping right around 90mph... Stage 2 Porsche TT was running high 12s... Basically, the track is complete garbage!

Re: My Slow Peice Of Shit

Didn't you know, that track sucks ass!! The sea level is horrible.
If you do the math, you'll be in the 14s though.
Anyway, You're chipped right or stock?
I wonder what the time differences would have been.
And... I know you're 6 speed, so that'll be different times from my CVT.
What about Quattro? No troubles on launching?

You wouldn't get pulled by a stock MK5 GTI but stock for stock, chip for chip you would get taken by one. Me and my friend (who's a moderator over at golfmkv.com) run around together all the time, both of us are APR 93 chipped and he took me when we were stock and after chipping.

your car is all show and no go. what a piece of shit! j/k. Maybe it was your first experience at the track and what was your 60ft time?. Also, did your car bog at the launch and did you drop clutch?

Re: My Slow Peice Of Shit

I've had plenty experience at the track (LACR in particular..) Actually have a couple trophies I took home from bracket racing in my 98 Integra... The car was getting 2.5 60' times and I kept trying different methods of launching, and there's just so much damned torque down low that it seems like the lower my 60' times, the higher my ET was...

Weight difference, AWD drivetrain losses, shitty track, heavy(ish) wheels... of course the mkV's were beating up on you.

However, you have a new fully loaded AUDI and they just have a VW.

No AWD loss... I'm FWD. On the not-so-legal track, I pull on 2.0Ts... especially from a roll...

But thank you, Captain Obvious haha Wow, that made me so happy inside.

some idiot was driving an altima all crazy (could seem him coming up fast through traffic behind me) -- i wasn't next to him at the light (nor would i have raced him anyways) but when he took off on the green i was like -- it looked pretty quick.

Re: My Slow Peice Of Shit

I guess your 1/4 mile times sucked because you were looking in the crowd for some exposed yams? Nice sign by the way.

V-6 Altimas are not slow by any means. They are big cars but SE models run 0-60 in 5.9-6.0 secs. I used to have a 6 speed SE Maxima (2003). 0-60 time was 5.9 and I burnt a lot of tuned imports no problem. Take the Altima into some turns and you'll easily pull away. None of those cars handle as well as any German car in the corners. At least you can feel good that you don't drive a Nissan and your car isn't full of cheap plastic parts that rattle with every bump. My Maxima, sticker was $31K, had a leaky sunroof, subwoofer that rattled and noisey door panels. Engine was amazing but everything else was terrible. And those guys need to change oil every 3K miles...

3k miles because they didn't need Synthetic! If our cars didn't use synthetic, we'd being changing it every 3k too. But anyway, that's just my say in it...

I believe the B7s are heavier too huh?

LOL. But seriously, change out to lighter wheels and some good R compound rubber and you will be pulling better times.

Strange, all I have is an APR chip and I consistently walk on a friend's 2007 3.5 Altima (stock - 270hp/258tq). Looks like that guy you encountered might have had more than just an exhaust...

Re: My Slow Peice Of Shit

Brandon what was your 1/8th mile time?

I was pretty disappointed last night at Irwindale (1/8 mile track) because I ran a 9.60 eighth mile - which I felt was pretty damn slow (granted i had a full tank of gas - but that only equates to 1/10 second in the quarter for every 100lbs). My 60 foot times were 2.20. Keep in mind I have a TIP ftl.

My check engine light came on during my second pass (which was the fastest, 9.60) so I'm wondering if my DV might be going going gone. Getting it checked today

I was running APR 93 program (12 gallons 91, 2 gallons 109 octane race gas), Creative testpipe and neuspeed exhaust. I thought I would at least be 'low 14' quarter equivalent.. but i think my 9.6 is close to a 15 second flat 1/4 time - hence my question of what your 1/8 was. Obviously, with Koni coils, VMR 19" rims, quattro and tiptronic, full tank of gas (pushing 4000#) it's not a drag monster - but i was still hoping my times would be a bit quicker.

What days they have runs in Irwindale? How does it work? I'm willing to take my car there just for fun an see how it does on a 1/4 mile.

Irwindale is only an 1/8th mile. They run EVERY thursday night from 4:30 to 10:00pm. If you get there early (say 4:00) you can usually get 2 or 3 runs in really fast. After 6:30pm it takes about 1 hour between runs depending on how crowded it is.

I really miss Pomona having street legal drags - that is a great track. I used to kick ass and take names in the High school class bracket races.

Brandon, it was those rims for sure, when I lifted one of them I was dying.

If you down to roll again sometime soon I want to try my 3.2 down there, see if I can rip the system out that day.
