OK...here's what I did to get the HID's in the fogs on my 2001 B5...
NOTE: The kit you see here is not the same as the kit I'm selling. This is the old version and the ballast will be much smaller. Therefore, there will be more room to play with.
1. Remove the Headlamp (3 screws: 2 on top and 1 in the rear)
2. Remove fogs...if you don't have the under carraige cover, you can see straight down, if not you don't have to remove it but you might need to get some lighting so you can see better.
3. I mounted the ballast on the driverside right next to the horn. Theres a cutout which I used to pass zipties to secure the ballast...here's the pics...
If you have the washers and are worried about the clearence...heres a pic...
4. The wireing harness and the wires to the xenon bulb pass straight down to the foglight housing.
5. The fog light housing has to be modified for this to work. The clip that connects the bulb must be removed in order to connecto to the wiring harness.
6. Install the bulb and connect the wires. You must tape the wires sinc the plastic connector was removed to avoid shorting out the system. Here's a pic...
7. Once the bulb is installed and the wire conncetions are made, you can move on to the cover of the foglight housing.
You must cut a hole in the back of the cover to pass the wiring harness the the wires to the xenon bulb...A dremel works really well here since the space is ver small...
8. Once you've cut that out, you can place the rubber waterproof grommet in place to prevent water from getting in...
9. Once you've done that and reconnected the foglight it should look like this...
10. Install the foglight housing back in and you're ready to go...
11. The passenger side is different because this wire gets in the way of mounting the ballast...
So I mounted the ballast by the turn signal in the bumper. This can be done on the other driverside as well with zipties...it's much cleaner install of the ballasts.
12. Again, the wiring harness goes stairght down to the foglight housing with no prob...
From here follow steps 4-10 and you'll be done. Doesnt take long to do.
If you need help with it, just send me an email and I'll be more than happy to help with the install.
I will be doing this same thing for a B6 next week with a H11 5300K kit.
I'll take pics and write it up for you guys...
if you're interested in getting a kit, please let me know so that I can put the orders in with my supplier.
Thanks
