Taking a road trip next weekend...going to apply painter's tape...advice?

I'm gonna be taking a trip down south to LA this coming weekend and I want to put painter's tape on my front to prevent rock dings. I bought some Scotch Blue Painter's Tape (Medium Adhesion). Is there anything special that I should keep in mind when applying this tape or removing it?

the only thing i can think of is to just make sure the car is really clean before you apply the tape.

    Clean the car, then apply.

Have a nice drive. It should only be 6-7 hours. Bring your Valentine One if you have one.

I don't know about the others here but when I did it the wind started peeling the tape off so I suggest that you bring some extra tape with you so that you can peel off the fallen tape and apply new tape. And I used more than a roll too so I'd buy 2 to be safe.

why bother, its a car, its meant to be driven, i never use tape on roadtrips and my paint is still fine, next to no chips, it looks tacky with blue tape all over it IMO.

It's very personal. It's true that our cars are meant to be driven, but why not protect them from being rock chipped when you can?

cause it looks rediculous, you gotta pay to play my friend, id sooner pay to have my bumper repainted once a year. its all personal preference though, your right, if people want to do it, then all the power to them. i wouldnt tho. besides that, a roadtrip is no different than the normal miles you put on the car during the week, most people drive on the freeway regulary and such, just not for as prolonged of a period as a roadtrip. eventually no matter what you do unless you have a clearbra, or drive with tape 24/7, itll get rock chips, they arent very noticeable anyhow, especially on silver.

Plus you draw a hell of a lot of attention with blue stripes all down the front of your ride.

Few layers of Saran Wrap would work a lot better, of course with the sides and edges still taped into place.
