    HID failure?

i just noticed today, when i was pulling up behind a car only my passenger side hid was on. i turned them off, then turned them on again and it was fine. Although, mayb 5-10 seconds later it went out again. When i got home i checked it out a little more. when i turned the lights back on, the driver side one didnt burn as blue as the working one on the passenger side (6000K) it would flicker once or twice then shut off. Im assuming its just a bad bulb, but is there a sure way to check? Also, where can I buy them other than the dealer, because i assume they will rip me off. BTW, they are the euro-spec headlights with 6000 k rating.

Go to audmods.com. Jason, Luke and the rest of the audmods crew know a ton about our cars, and the customer service was top notch. Couldn't recommend them any higher

Sounds like the ballast is going bad.

Yeah, that is what happened to mine one time. Check the harness connection on the ballast side. Check for the wires twisting or any separation.

mine did the same... the power connections on the board corroded and the pins actaully broke off..... there are 3 pins for 12v+ and 3 pins for ground.... I ended up taking the ballast apart, cleaning it all, and soldering wires onto the board. I also had a bulb that was going bad do the same thing, it worked, went out, worked went out, and it ended up just being the bulb..... try swapping the bulbs, if the bulb still does the same thing, its the ballast, if not, then its the bulb hope this helps out, post up if u have any more questions

Thanks for the props Tom, much appreciated!

S4ev5, just swap bulbs from one side to the other, should help determine whether it is bulb or ballast related. If it is the bulb, we sell replacements that are oem or better quality...

    thanks
