    clear corners on 2001?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I was looking at my headlights and im pretty sure they are 1 piece. How do I go about getting clear corners? I am not a fan of the orange, and I would like to get rid of it as soon as possible.

I ran a search on here, but nothing really came up

you need "e-codes" which are european spec headlight housings that dont have the amber. you can get them at epimporters.com and a bunch of other places, but if you have xenon headlights, expect to spend around 500 bucks or so on the xenon housings, those are the ones i have and they are pretty sweet.

Or if you went the cheap way, you could take the orange out of your existsing headlights now.

Yea I did this in a previous car and it didn't turn out nearly as well as I expected and I'm not about to do it on this car...especially when replacement lights on my old car were about $100 were as this cars replacements are much much more. Plus after a year or so they started developing a very small moisture leak. I think the process I performed was very similar. I wouldn't recommend it

It's very, very easy to do if you take your time. I've done a lot of them for both S4's and A4's.

ecodes not only have the clear corners but the optics is much more efficient. more light on the road where you need it. and the cutoff is more stepped

the eCodes are perferrable as they are factory and also haev the city lights, but i have not scored eCodes for my car so i modded them out myself. very easy and it CAN look very clean. you WILL have two little holes where the orange inserts clip into the main housing, its just that how big the holes are depends on how well you do the mod. I have done this to about 6 b5's so far and i get better every time. Make sure you have the correct tools for the job, you will need a dremel with a round de-burring bit, a set of extended neednose and an extended dikes, a can of air duster or an air compressor. make sure you have the extended pliers as it will prevent you from slipping on the insert and having it drop into the housing and scratch it all up. remove the high beam bulbs and it makes it easier to get the rest of the broken pieces of orange plastic out.

oh damn i guess i forgot to stress that part

i used some black silicone from sears, goop it on real generously, dont worry no one will see it! another point to make would be to try and keep the pass through holes you make as small as possible, so that you dont need that much silicone!
