Bumper & caliper touch up pics...

I removed the front plate holder and had 5 holes in my bumper! I put caps in the larger three, but anyway to do something with the small two holes without major re-painting?

Cleaned replaced with Mintex pads and painted calipers black:

Looks great man. Glad to see pics too. Too bad I'm always to lazy or lack time to take pics. Then again, it may be because my car's so dirty right now.

I like the calipers black. If I didn't have the justDave badges, I'd paint mine black too. That, or silver.

Get that thing cleaned up for Saturday. I'll keep you posted too...

    Mike,

What is up with your picture poster. Went to check out pictures of your car and only saw the freaky weird accident one. What is the story behind that?

Im thinking about painting the calipers red, the guy I bought my rims from showed me the stuff he did for his Ngarro Blue S4. Looked awesome and looked like a brembo brake.

I did that on an 02 Altima I had. I actually did it with engine paint and it turned out awesome. Looked really good behind the gunmetal wheels!

I did these with the engine enamel and the same for my 98 A4 in red and it looked good but I'm too lazy to keep them really clean. I'm hoping the black will be a little more tolerant. Also I'm sticking more with a silver/black theme.

Did you make those bumper caps yourself?

If not do you mind sharing where I can score some for my car?

    Thanks

DarkkstaR: I went to Lowes, the holes in my bumper were about 3/8" in diameter. So I bought 1/4" plugs in their hardware isle under the "hard to find" I believe drawer, but they also have bigger sizes. They had white and black color. I bought the white and then used the touch up paint I have with my car to paint and clear coat them. I then used a drill to make the holes 1/4" in my bumper because the previous holes were very rough and slipped them in.

kontesto: I just used the high temp engine enamel from an auto parts store. The hardest part is the prep work to clean and mask the calipers. I found a 2" wire brush that fits on a drill and used that with brake cleaner which made it much easier. Also A4 in SC's tip that makes the masking easier is to use plastic bags around the caliper as they are a bit easier to work with to slide under and around it.

Thanks man. I really do appreciate it. If the weather and work cooperates, the local VW/Audi guys are going to be getting together for a photoshoot this Saturday morning. I'll be sure and post pics if we do.

i was actually thinking of recovering my calipers as the fronts show some rust. however, i was thinking of brushing them out w/ wire brush and leaving the brushed silver. would i have to clear coat that with engine clear coat (haha i don't even know if they have those) or would just leaving them brushed be a good idea?

alen: yes they sell a clear engine enamel you could use. The hardest part would be getting the caliper clean in all the little corners. You could use a silver paint to get close to the same look I would imagine.

I am armed: I got the wheels from edgeracing.com and I have Koni Coilovers from purems.com
