What's up, everybody?
So I went to replace my rear brakes, and realized that I needed a special tool to decompress the pistons in order to fit the new pads on. Once I got the tool, I realized there must be more to it as it still would not decompress. Apparently, the VAG-COM is needed in order to put the car in service mode to allow this as the emergency brake is electric.
That said, does anyone know if I can do this on my own? Am I able to buy the VAG-COM cable for this, if so, which one in specific? Also, which software would I need? I see you can get the 409.1 (2004) for about 10 bucks on ebay, but is this old software current enough to do the trick, if not, can it be updated?
Aside from all of that, is that the only way to go about DIY rear-brake replacement on this thing?
Thanks.
