That thing is awesome. I cannot wait to go beat if off road. It has a much better ride than the Escalade. The interior is also much higher quality. The V8 make decent power.

Now if they had just offered the same Nav system in the S4...

I have not seen the interior of a Cayanne yet so I am unsure if they share any parts. I looked for a used Cayanne, but they were all over $55K. The dealer was asking $5K over sticker and I ended up getting it for $500 under invoice thanks to CarsDirect. I did not buy the car through them, but just showed the dealer the price. The manager tried to tell me I would not be able to get any service if I used CarsDirect, but I just told him that was a joke and I would take it to any VW dealer in the US. From there it was all very smooth. I can't blame them for trying to make some extra money.

The Escalade is nice, but too big and I like to go offroad which the Toureg is really built for. I like the Escalade, but I love that New Car Crack Smell even more!

We have a Cayenne turbo , bar none best SUV on the planet , The interior makes any US SUV look like a toyaota corolla , and the performance is all there. The v6 Cayenne is peppy with an amazing exhaust note. Another nice cheap SUV type thing is a Dodge magnum , we test drove one yesterday as a work/beater and the truck/suv(not quite shure what to call it )is very quick and the interior quality is very nice for a dodge . and they offered it to us fully loaded (remote start/dvd/nav/hemi/leather/roofrails/BA sound) fo 31k great deal IMO , I'll snap some pictures when we take delivery in the next few weeks

My mom has a toureg and I drive it all the time...its an awsome suv...she has the v8 and the suspension package and its just awsome....had it out doing some lite off roading and it did a great job

i have a cayenne, and to answer a few questions:

A) not only does it share some of the interior parts with the toureg, but it has many similar pieces as my A4(i.e.: switches, sunroof dial, stereo surround, window buttons, remote(don't even get me started about this POS))

B) we have an S and it's f#$%ing sick, i can't imagine what the turbo's like

C) i'm gonna take some pics tomorrow of my car with the cayenne and the Z4 for wallapapers, should be pretty nice

D)as far as gas mileage goes, it's not awwwfffullll, u can go well over 300 miles on a tank. unfortunately, when i filled it up yesterday, it ended up costin $56.43, keep in mind it was almost empty tho

forgot to mention, i dunno if they have this problem in toureg's too, but the cayenne remote blows such a tremendous amount of ass it boggles the mind. not only do they have one button for lock and unlock, which is confusing bc u can never tell if it's locked or not, but there is a mass problem with a missing/messed up remote antenna that Porsche refuses to deal with. any dealer will tell u that they see it all the time but porsche has no solution for it. it's completely hit or miss if the remote will work or not, and the only way to be sure it will actually lock the friggin car is if yu're bascially standing right next to the driver side door. it's so annoying. i can't tell u how many times i've just resorted to usin the key in the door, and then somehow set the alarm off with me sitting in the car. it makes no sense, but the air suspension makes up for alllll of this truck's faults

You know Range Rover is owned by Ford (Premiere Auto Group) right? Aren't G-wagons pretty small on the interior. I saw the car at the LA Auto Show and the rear seats looked like a bench and very uncomfortable.

Don't get me wrong, I love the Toureg for what it is. I wouldn't consider it a Prada bag. There are numerous Toureg owners that use it for what it is. Do you know anyone that says they bought Prada because of the leather's longevity and roomy pockets? Probably not. They bought it because of the name. It's just another status ploy to be part of the elite.

So well said. I personally would get a toureg if i had the money and was in the market for an suv. it is probably one of the most capable as well as attractive suv's out there for the money. I dont need a G-wagen which drives, looks, and handles like a brick to be "cool" or whatever it is you want to be.

If you've got the money to throw at a brick like a G-Wagen then hats off to you...hell if i had the money i'd get a Cayenne Turbo but dollar for dollar the Toureage will outperform a lot of the luxo suv's in it's CLASS in both on and off road! They get mad respect from the JEEP owners and those guys are the elitest of the offroad peeps.

The G Wagon is a 20 year old design that MBZ shipped to the US for people that have more money than taste. After a weekend with the new Truck I can say that it is awesome. My father has a Range Rover and the ride and interior quality are similar if not superior. The power is much better.

The Cayenne Turbo is cool, but a little over the top. I do not need a $100K car for hauling kids and bikes around and I am definitely not going to take something like that to Baja.

It was interesting to read about the remote problems. I thought I was just going crazy. The switch gear is definitely nicer than the S4. I think they finally solved the problem with the one touch windows in hot weather. Another interesting note is that the program on the Tiptronic is much more advanced. It acutally matches revs on the down shift. In the S4 sport mode the down shifts can be pretty stiff, especially the 2-1 shift. I will post pics once I can find the cable for my camera.
