crank key is in fuse box door. At least in my 2000 it is. If not, check your owner's manual.

it's on the inside cover where you access the fuses, the drivers side panel when the door is open, right beside the dash

Mine freaked out the other day. The rear of the sunroof lifted up. I didn't know they moved that way. After playing with the switch and ignition it finally closed.

Sounds like Audi's crappy sunroof caught up to you. Apparanty the track that's made out of plastic breaks apart over time and causes the sunroof to jam.

maybe this is why i cant manually close it either.

Try putting your key in your door and holding it to "lock" until the windows roll up and it might close then.

that's exactly (almost) what happened to my car, although my link guide is not broken (nor there's anything broken part). i just took it out, and my sunroof works fine, although now i have more wind noise coming in 'cuz of lack of that flap(guide thingy). my guide just popped out and hit a few spots on the roof, leaving gruesome dents...damn!! stupid thing!! now it slides open/close, tilts or good, except even when it's closed, the front end of the roof is sitting higher than the rear...don't know what to do about it, so i always leave it tilted open

this seems easy enough but will it work for a 2001? that looks like a much older setup..

I would think it would be similar. Can't hurt to pull out the assembly (not taking anything apart) and compare.
