    suspension/wheels

I have a 99.5 b5 with sport suspension. I saw other posts asking whether to get suspension or wheels first and most reccomended suspension first, wheels next. My question is since i'm already sitting lower with sport suspension, is it ok to get wheels. If so, what is the max size i can run? Pros/cons to going bigger than 17s?

You can do it, it's just a matter of preference. When you go with a bigger rim size, you must get a tire with a smaller sidewall to compensate. That makes the wheel gap appear even bigger. It's sort of an illusion effect.

Personally, I'd take suspension over rims any day. It's not only better looking, but it's one of the best performance mods you can do on our cars.

You can easily go bigger than 17, many run 19s. But, if you're on harsh roads you're risking bending rims and busting tires. Also, if you go bigger than 17 than I'd recommend you get your suspension done first.

I agree. It all depends on what you want. Are you satisfied w/ the ride and handling? Are you happy with the wheels? If so, the single best upgrade will be tires. That's just my opinion though.

I was a "sport suspension is low enough" person and I told A4 in SC this...but the more time you spend around here seeing pics of lowered cars and have people telling you "you need to drop yours"...the more it will grow on you.

I bought 18" wheels on the sport suspension and thought it was great but I eventually gave in and bought coilovers and think it looks 10x better.

Buy 18" wheels, disconnect your internet and never look at another aftermarket A4 again and you should be fine...otherwise prepare to buy a suspension!

HAHAHA!!! We all know (or will shortly) that modding is an illness that we can't shake...

Oh yeah, thanks again for the spare shifter. Works great!!

with suspension and 18s it's very rough driving in NE Ohio roads. I'm sure NJ isn't any better.

Sometines I it's so bad that it make me want to get smaller rims.........which isn't gonna happen.

Want to get 19s but don't have the balls. I'm scared they will last a few weeks.

    Get suspension before the rims.

get altezzas first, then neons second. suspension and rims can wait, you need to make your car look cool first.

Those exact questions have been answered atleast 4 times in the last 2-3 days. You can either search or just read back a few pages.

I would say ask you mom first...if she says its ok, then go ahead with rims. 4 out of 5 dentists recommend rims if you already have sport suspension.
