GIAC Flashloader Switcher

Thought you guys might get a kick out of this. I got to use GIAC's new Flashloader Switching software today on a '04 A4Q 1.8t. Lets me pick between 5 maps all through the DLC port! Works like magic. Just fired up the software, picked the map I wanted and bam, no one can rev my rig over 4K. Get it back from the parking garage boys, hit the button, and it's back to power baby. Oh yah, smooth as butter... Still in testing, and will be out soon, very soon. Just thought I'd spread the word. Here's a snapshot of what it looks like... well, can't set up the screen shot for now. I'll get it up later.

How is the software initially installed? I mean, do you have to solder anything to the ECU or the ECU is just flashed?
where can i get more info on this as i can't find it on giacusa.com?

they can put an actuall chip or they can flashload the software to your ECU. both have the same exact programing.

They will run $100 more than the standard chip price. So for the B6 1.8T, it will be $595. More info will be coming very soon. It is flashed onto the ECU, then the Switcher lets you select the file you want to run.

the giac guys told me that when it comes out i can just go back to where i got my ecu done originally (DSR in this case) and purchase the switch. Then they just need to reflash the ecu since these things are meant to be specific to your chip only. so $100 and you get reflashed to be able to use the switch thingamajiggie....

Here's some more breakdown on the pricing and when you can get one...

B6 A4 1.8T example:
Buy your x-chip $495
Add stock file option $50
Add Kill & Valet mode (2 for 1) $100

If you want to use the windows based software, and a Ross-Tech cable to switch modes, it's free from GIAC dealers.

If you want the handheld switcher, add $100

It will be available in 2-5 chip options.

It will be available for sale
through authorized GIAC dealers (via download) on the 14th-15th of July. Disk versions will be available at
Waterfest

If you already bought a chip, you get full trade in for it.

What does the Kill does exactly'?

Sorry for the late response, I was outta town for the 4th. Kill doesn't let the car start at all. So if you're suspect your car might get jacked, you put it in kill mode, and no one can start it, unitil you switch it back to another mode. Hope that helps.
