Last Night Sucked...

So I'm w/ my buddies ready to go putt putt and I take a turn, and my car dies. I thought I had it in a wrong gear in tiptronic w/ no torque or something, but I was wrong. It went dead, so I attempted to start it again, but nothing. So I put it in neutral and coasted into the parking lot but the whole way it sounded like something was grinding... the whole way. So anyawys, I had to wait for 75 mins for a tow truck than another hour for him to hook it up, and he didnt know where he was going or how audi's worked.

The problem is that I get the starting sound, the whine... but it wont start. I have gas and I dunno what could be wrong.

I have no car and now I have to wait a few days before they even look at it.

Anybody got any ideas what's wrong or if Audi will provide me with a loaner or not...

It depends on the dealer if they will give you a loaner. In addition to that, they usually only provide a loaner once the problem has been diagnosed. At least that was my experience with 5 seperate coilpack failures on my 01

Damn, I'm going to call later today and ask them...

this def. sucks ass though, the only thing I'm happy about is that I wasn't injured and that Im at 48500 miles exactly, so it's still under warranty...

But it make me wonder about the warranty and wether I should buy long term or not in case something like this happens again...

BTW, the only light that shows when this goes is my battery light on the dash... but the battery has juice to power the lights, radio, a/c, etc. etc.

Sometimes the Batt can still power the little stuff, but wont have enough juice to start the car..

Im sorry to hear, and Im at 48,500 too.

AoA will provide u a rental car with up to $25 (best thing u can get is a Corolla).

I've been having horrible experiences with AoA customer services. Hope all goes well with u.

I'm lucky... an A4 rental only costs $11 extra a day for me, I'm gonna call this afternoon and have them arrange me one hopefully...

I hope it's only something minor.

the same way that the car is registered in their name, not mine... etc. etc.

sorry to hear it man. Downtime always suck. What kind of "mods" do you have? Hopefully you are not chipped because that will void your warranty. If you have aftermarket intakes, bovs, and even exhaust, it could give you problems with them honoring the warranty. Just be insistent they prove the mods were the cause of the damage.

Luckily, I have only suspension and some exterior mods. I do have my exhaust and test pipe sitting in my garage, luckily those didn't go on yet... so they'll have a hard time proving that my suspension caused any real damage hopefully...

Got a call today, found out my fuel pump went. They were supposed to fix it today, but the part never showed. So now I'm out of a car till Tues. I got a car to drive, but still... I wish I had mine.

Where did you hear about "chips" voiding your warranty? Being chipped does not automatically void your warranty. The dealer may hassel you a bit, but if the part that failed can't be directly tied to the chip upgrade then the warranty is still good. Or just find a mod friendly dealer.

Also, are people here having a hard time getting loaners from dealers? I thought that was part of the Audi included maintenance plan. My dealer gives me a loaner anytime I drop off my car and it's not some crappy escort or cavalier, it's usually another Audi vehicle like an A6 or TT.

About the fuel pump, it's a common problem on the A4. Mine went out last year and I've read many other posts about it.

Well they called and offered me one, but I refused, instead I just drive the Golf around... but mine's not hard about loaners, I just wasn't sure if they'd give me one or not...
