    REVO SP1 vs. SP3?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I just went with the REVO tuning for my Avant but have not yet purchased an SP unit yet. My question is how much of a difference in power will the SP3 be running High Boost + 2 over the standard SP1? I don't want to play with the timing and cause any extra problems for myself. I already have the Thermal Exhaust and DV with no plans on a turbo upgrade in the future. Is it worth the extra $$$?

    Please help!!!

The "standard" Revo code is designed to work with a typical, or most likely, set of conditions found out there such as temperature, octane, etc. SPS3 allows you to change the code to adapt it to environments that differ from the typical.

For example, if you fill up with 100 octane, you can change the timing and boost to take advantage of the higher octane. But if there is no marked difference from Revo's expected environment, there is not much that SPS3 can do.

Maybe sps3 will allow you to find 10 additional horses here and there after careful tweaking but I dont think 10 horses are worth $350.

But that's only my opinion -- I could be wrong.

btw I did get the sps1. If my car dies in the middle of nowhere and it has to be towed directly to the dealer I want to be able to switch to stock mode before the dealer gets it.

I guarantee you that if they did I would have stayed away from the place! Imagine doing 125mph and getting a "blue screen"

Thanks John. I'll probably get the REVO w/ SPS1 and then move on to the SPS3 once I feel that it is worth it. This non-detectable ECU flashing is sweet technology.

Its funny that we are just now getting flashable tuning for our cars. Serial port uploaded software has been around for years in the domestic market. I remember my friend getting his ecu flashed in 97 in his Chevy truck. Guess our cars are a little more complicate. I actually have a serial port software programer I got in 98 for a Camaro.

I have SPS2. For the price different, I found it to be worth the investment. I wanted SPS1 anyway. But for extra $60US, I can have 94 and 91 programming and enable the immobiler to kill my car. It's nice when I park at airport for 3 days. It's a piece of mind. SPS3, not for me, I don't know enough to play with my car like that.

The code/software of Revo in US is indeed different with what we have in here and Europe. Our software's timming is 6 but your US spec T6 is different with ours as Revo tunned down the timming from their software. Our T6 need to run ron 98 fuel and yours should be 91. This is the smart move of Revo as they develop different software to suit the domestic demand.
Can't go back to stock after Revoed

Yeah, really a great thing to be able to do. Subies have been SP-able for a while too.

If you're lucky, someone in your area may already have Revo with teh SPS3. Make friends with him/her and you can borrow theirs for FREE.
