Any Porsche calipers to use for a BBK?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Just wondering if any Porsche caliper could be used for a Big Brake Kit upgrade on a B6 Audi and what would the minimum wheel size to use with it? Is there a Porsche caliper that is larger than the B6 S4's caliper which could be used? And if so, would a different caliper bracket or carrier be needed? Thanks!

So what do B6 S4 owners upgrade their brakes to? Are the StopTechs bigger than than the OEM B6 S4's?

As mentioned by others, there are a few companies making Porsche BBK's for Audi; ECS Tuning, BIRA.org,.. and Hyperformance in Canada. They have a full 996TT BBK upgrade, as well as a HP2 Caliper upgrade kit. Their Audi BBK would be around $2500 though. I think the HP2 kit worked out to around $1200 (and IIRC, you need the S4 B5 rotor I think).

The S4 B6 brake conversion is decent enough, but heavy when compared to a Stoptech BBK. Same goes for the S4 B5 brake conversion. It's also expensive for the pads/rotors on the B5 (probably for the B6 too and that one may not have much aftermarket selection yet).

S4 B6 owners upgrade to Brembo or Stoptech. The S4 B6 front brake is around a 13.5" or 14" rotor I think.

I had the ECS Stage 4 BBK and returned it. Wasn't satisfied with it, quality, condition,... nor with how it was shipped to me (packaging). They also changed the rotor pattern w/o informing anyone. It was also very HEAVY, especially the OEM pads. Overall, the Stage 4 BBK was heavier then the Stoptech 332 BBK that I ended up getting instead. It's a far better BBK, and a great value too, for improving braking performance. Very well engineered for our car. You'll have to deal with strnage brake bias with other kits. Stoptech shows consistent, top rated, results with braking tests, over and over.

The nice thing about the B6 A4 is that it has the same mounting pattern as the B5 S4. So that means you have more options for brake upgrades. You can use factory RS4 fronts 360mm x 32mm rotors with 2piston floating calipers. Or even the Porsche 993tt kits with 4 piston rigid calipers and a 322mm x 32mm drilled.

There are several kits forsale in the for sale section.

As for Stoptech they have great products and they designed there caliper after the Porsche 928S4 caliper which has a smaller pad surface then the 993tt kits.

    Check them out
