    air conditioning affect performance?

    my friend was racing a vw 1.8t in his bmw 325i and lost. he said it was because his air conditioning was on. does it really affect performance that much?

    yes. but i think a 1.8t can still take a 325i

    AC doesn't affect it that much. But it will sap some get up and go,, with that said. Excuses, he lost because his car is slower,, needs mods. The 1.8 could have been chipped and he had no chance then.

    A/C helps my car idle

    If he was really a racer, he would have turned off his A/C before running... everyone knows that. So if he was a real racer, then he just plain lost and "My A/C was on waaaaaaa" was just an excuse. If he isn't a racer, now he knows to turn off his A/C when he runs.
    You would have won even with his A/C off
