For the Platinum extended warranty package.
Is that how much it usually goes for? Worth it?

    $3,000 for extended warranty

I think that's too much. I think it should cost something around $1,500 unless you mean something else about the "Platinum" extended warranty.

Yeah. First of all, what is a Platinum Extended Warranty package? What are the alternatives? I am assuming you are buying a used car? Since the B6 is still a relatively new model, most people here are probably still the original owners. If you are buying a used car, keep in mind that the car comes with a 50,000 mile warranty. When and if things break on this car, as I'm sure they may, it will not be cheap to fix. At the same time, if you have to replace a clutch or brakes, stuff like that obviously isn't covered under warranty. On top of that, if you are even at this site, you may be considering modding your car, which may void your extended warranty anyways.

If you're worried about something breaking on you on a used car, get the warranty. If you think there is even a remote chance that you are going to mod your car, go without the warranty. Save yourself the trouble of worrying about voiding your warranty in the future.

I've had my car since 02' but my 50,000 miles warranty is almost up, so Im contemplating if I should buy the extended warranty. There are three extended warranty packages. Silver, Gold, and Platinum.

I'm gonna keep modifications to a minimum, pretty much everything that can be switched back to stock.

Extended warranty is good for another 4 years or 100,000 miles. Which ever comes first.

Have you had any problems with your car in the first two years? I know that the residual value of the car after 4 years @ 60,000 miles is 44% as calculated by Audi Financial when I took delivery of my car.

If my lease didn't have 60,000 miles, I would sell the car at 50,000 miles and get the next thing that comes out.

If you're happy with the car and you haven't had any problems, maybe the Platinum package is for you. The only concern is what the resale value will be at the end of that term. Is it really worth it to keep the car to 100,000 miles?

Yeah, if I was leasing I wouldn't even care about this. But I've just finished paying off my car, and Im plaining to keep it for at least another 2 years, and I would have close to a 100,000 miles by then.

I think Im pretty sure about gettin the E.W. but I would like to know if there's any where else where I can get it for cheaper.

You must drive a lot of miles if your car is only 2 years old and your have 100K miles in two years. In that case, $3,000.00 for insurance doesn't seem that much. It's just an extra $125 / month or 6 cents per mile.

Coming from a Finance Director at a dealership let me tell you this, and don't forget it. EVERYTHING is negotiable. Offer them $1900 and walk if they don't take it. 9 times out of 10 before you reach the door the price will magically drop. Also remember to check the difference in premium with different deductibles. You may be able to reach a deal on a $200 ded. instead of the standard $100 one.

AudiA4sytle...just get the warranty it will be we'll worth it. actually, if your close to 50,000 miles and the extended warranty is only 3,000 then thats a deal. i paid 4,000 for my extended warranty when i hit 35,000 miles. i've come to terms that this car is not going to be the most reliable down the road. i put 52,000miles in a year and a half. i've got around 2 more years to pay it off and also need to keep it for another 2 more years. the warranty is not going to pay for wear and tear but will take care of you with all the other crap that will BREAK. and remember that each audi dealer will have a different extended warranty company and they are all different. good luck.....

I did an 100K extended through my credit union for $1800 on my 1.8t Cabrio. Check with them or your insurance agent. They also have access to extended warranty's.

everything is negotiable , but how do you go from $3,000 to $1,900?

I know they can do better than $3,000. Why? Because I purchased the extended warranty for my B5 for $1,800 and I work at a VW dealer and have friends up the street working at Audi. My car had around 50k and I extended it to just under 100,000. For a B6 though, it may be a bit more.

A4 STYLE, definitely try to get that number down. But even if you paid the $3,000, it's still worth it. And definitely go platinum. That's what I have.

Also, check out some of the extensive warrenty options on the net as well. They are usually more eager to get your business than the Audi dealers.

When I bought my car, the dealer offered an 4-year 100K-mile extended warranty for $1600. I turned it down ... I feel very stupid now. I probably would not get the same deal again from the dealer.

If it's not an "Audi Assured" deal, then it's not an "extended warranty". It's an "extended service contracts" which is basically an insurance policy. A warranty is provided by the original manufacturer only.

The Audi Pure Protection contracts are not offered by Audi of America, it's just something individual Audi dealers offer in conjunction with an insurance underwriter. My Audi dealer (through Universal Underwriters, I think) offered me a platinum contract to extend to 75K/6 years for $2100/$100 deductible.

The problem with other providers on the internet is that they are reluctant to cover turbos (and in my case, very few will cover B5-S4's with twin turbos)

for what its worth: when i bought my cadillac with 56K on the clock i also bought the extended GM national warranty good for two years for $1700. only one problem with it- the tranny was shifting rough. $50 deductible and $2000 in parts and labor!

i think if you are somewhat of a conservative person it'd be worth it.

Ok here is the deal and update.

    i went to the dealer,

he quoted me 1500 for the platinum and i was happy but then before writing it down on the paper he looked at another paper and said he was wrong and wants 2100 now bumer.

2100 for the platinum with 100 deductible. for 6 yrs 100K i think i am going back and offering 1800 because i think 1800 is one of the best price one can get.

i have 43K and the car is 2.5 yrs old i've had to take this car in at least 50 times so i think its worth it and will pay 1800 will post update after the purchase.

Questions for you all: the warranty is provided by Fidelity Warranty Services Inc. googled it and got lots of info anyof you is this the only company that sells for audi??

My dealer's 'warranty' was from Universal Underwriters. They quoted $2100/$100ded. to extend from 4yrs/50k to 6yrs/75k for my S4.

I was told by Audi Customer Service that although it's called Audi Pure Protection, each dealer sells their own warranty product from an insurer of their choice.

well I considered it once. If car is new cheaper. closer car to end of factory warranty more expensive. I have jan 02 and have 77k on it. I put on mile so fast not worth it. Only reason I considered the warranty is, my local shop said if things start to go you can get money and replace with upgraded part. like lets say k 04.

Maestro tuned and built by RAI.... bottom end, some head work, 3071 for now, custom RAI FMIC, and bunch of other stuff that I gotta find receipts for.

that's the way to do it... get ext warr and employ non-dealer shop to do your work, so everything that breaks gets replaced with upgraded parts. Ext Warranty company gets the bill for your chosen upgrades as part of the repair job.
I was quoted anywhere from $2100 to $2400 average from several qouotes online for my S4, but it's still early for me as my Factory warr expires feb 06, so i still got time before buying, which I will be doing before factory warr runs out.

I think that's too much. I think it should cost something around $1,500 unless you mean something else about the "Platinum" extended warranty.
Thats the Platinum happy ending warranty, but you don't get the choice of female or male, or a selection of colors.

Trade it in and get another A4 with an extended warranty. That $3000 would make a great down payment.

Just picked an 05 with 9000miles...certified so warranty lasts until 2011 or 100,000 miles
