    Fame for Audi Race-Chasing Duo

Britain's most famous pair of Audi RS 6 quattro Avant models is appearing on TV over 10 weekends this year in a support role for the British Touring Car Championship. The bi-turbo, V8, quattro four-wheel-drive Audis deliver 450PS - 150PS more than the BTCC racers in the series - ensuring that they can more than hold their own on the track.

With the exception of the recently launched RS6 quattro plus Avant, these are the fastest road-going Audi estate cars ever imported to the UK, capable of accelerating to 62mph in just 4.7 seconds and reaching a top speed of up to 175 mph with speed limiter removed. Having chased 15 rounds already this season, they will be in action again for Rounds 16 to 18 at Croft on July 25th.

Series organisers chose the RS 6 quattro Avant because they needed safety and medical cars capable of keeping pace with the powerful 300PS racing saloons for the start of each race, and also able to transport vital medical and safety equipment to the scene of any incident within seconds.

RS 6 quattro plus Avant is a race apart
The latest road-going versions of the RS 6 now, in fact, exceed the performance of the two Misano Red BTCC support cars. The new RS 6 quattro plus Avant features a modified version of the ‘standard’ car’s acclaimed 40-valve, 4.2-litre twin-turbo V8 engine with power up from 450PS at 5,700rpm to 480PS at 6,000rpm. Helped by a newly developed sports exhaust system, the upgraded car can cover the 0-62mph sprint in 4.6 seconds and power – on Autobahns or race circuits at least - to a new electronically governed top speed up from 155mph to 175mph.

The new Audi RS 6 quattro plus Avant is available to order now for an OTR price of £66,675, and will be available in strictly limited numbers. It is the flagship in a range of A6 Avant models that includes everything from frugal 1.9 TDI 130PS models with unique-in-class, economy-conscious multitronic automatic Continuously Variable Transmission (CVT), to the exceptional 340PS S6 quattro Avant.

Current A6 Avant models will continue until an all-new A6 Avant model breaks cover in the first half of 2005.
