I looked at the DIY SS and the B&M SS. They seem like they are the same thing? What am i missing. I ordered a V&S. http://www.audiworld.com/tech/int44.shtml

The differenc is a metal ball joint, all metal shifter arm, and the elimination of the push down. V&S is a good choice.

Most shortshifters are roughly the same in throw reduction, the modded one included.

But how can you tell that they're same in throw reduction just by looking at them?

if you look at the holes that are drilled on the bottom, that determines the throw length

I see what you mean, but I think it would be tough to tell just by eye-balling it. The shifter length, angles, and position of holes are all factors that can alter the fulcrum point by a few degrees. But, I'm sure you're right, they're probably close.

All I know is that the V&S was a nicely machined piece, fit perfect, and signficantly reduced throws. All for about $130.
