Question about insurance and rock chips...

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
I have quite a few rock chips on my bumper, hood and front/rear fenders. They are getting bad and the paint is starting to look crappy around them.

Can I claim this to insurance and get the parts repainted?

Would this be a valid claim? One time I got quite a few from a dump truck carrying small pebbles if that counts for anything. I have full coverage.

I seriously doubt they will do anything and if they did it would surely raise your rates. Best way to go is just get it repainted IMO.

I highly doubt they will do anything, and if they were it would kill your premiums.

Yea I don't recommend claiming for that stuff. My parents got some money for a couple of cracked windshields (daily highway driving) but then their rates went up. Not worth it, IMHO.

Don't drive so close behind people. You will be amazed on how few paint chips you get.

That's normal wear & tear, it wouldn't be worth the rate increase. Don't drive behind trucks with pebbles in them

    what is your deductable?

500.. isn't that the price of a new bumper?

mine was 250.. just recently raised to 500- but i get my insurance paid for so i am not complaining.

so your going to pay around 500 dollar deductable to pay for a 400 dollar bumper(used one)- and have rates go up?

    ask yourself why?
    Yes.. it's back.

insurance isn't meant for small claims. the less claims you have, the better now and later...

Pay a body shop to repaint it. You'd have to use your deductible, which is most likely more than the cost to re-paint.
