    Exclamation The E05 is installed.

I took the car down to Euro Code yesterday to have the E05 installed. It took David 4 hours from start to finish for the install. That doesn't include the 1 hour cool down period before he started work (we got breakfast while the car cooled). As part of the install, I had David install Euro Code's Test Pipe. This is a great mod (really good bang for the buck).

Okay, now on to the important stuff:

The install was flawless. Everything went in without issue and looks great. The car idles and sounds stock. The test pipe combined with the Milltek exhaust still sounds very quiet; almost stock. The boost comes on almost the same as stock; near 2500 RPM. Then it pulls, HARD, all the way to redline. The engine revs so much faster now. I cannot believe the torque this thing makes! It reminds me of my Mustang. My car feels like a very powerful sport sedan, watch out Bimmers, I'm coming for you! We did not get a chance to dyno the car yesterday, but will this coming Tuesday. I will post the results as soon as I get them; but my butt dyno is reading about 250 CHP! Over all, I am very VERY happy!

    On to some pics:

I have to say, David gave me a great deal. I will have to ask him if it is okay to disclose.

Awesome! I just emailed David to see what detail he was willing to give.
I'm gonna wait until I hit 50K which should be next spring.
But I can't wait for more horsepower.
Last night I ran with a buddy of mine in his chipped B5 S4.
He left me like I was sitting still.

So did you get injectors, exhaust, etc? Or already had it?

The kit comes with the E05, TT225 injectors, spark plugs, Revo software and gaskets. I already had a Milltek exhaust and Forge DV. Just FYI, my car only has 10500 miles on it and this is the second turbo upgrade so far. The way I figure it, why wait???

Nice... you're running the exact setup I want to run...

I have my Thermal Exhaust already, Ecode Test Pipe comes Tues, in talks for the injectors... and trying to find somewhere to buy the E05 seperately, hopefully David wont mind providing me w/ spark plugs, gaskets and the Revo software for a good price.

Nice to hear though, glad you're happy. I can't wait to see dyno results...

Dude. Those pictures are excellent. I cannot wait to see your dyno results. If you were to get the car dyno'ed in the evening, I'd love to stop by after work to watch the dyno session and check out the E05 setup.

One quick question...will this car pass CA Smog tests?

Why not get it all from David? I don't think you will get a better deal trying to piece it all together separately. The K04 can be done this way because it is an OE turbo, the E05 is not. Another reason to source it all from David is support. If everything doesn't go as planned, he can get it all sorted out for you. But if you piece it together, then you will run into finger pointing and BS. Talk to David and see if he can give you a package deal or something. I would not suggest the 'put it together myself' strategy.

Not with the test pipe installed. But that is the beauty of the test pipe; it can easily be swapped with the stock cat. After that, the car should pass without a problem.

    Thumbs up

The clutch is holding up just fine. Even after many, MANY hard launches in a row. The stock clutch will last a while, it was fine with my T28 and it is still okay with the E05. I will upgrade it soon, just so I can get a lot better launches. I will definitely need it when the nitrous is installed.

John, there is no pinging at all. We logged a lot of runs (both street and on the freeway) with a VAG COM and no detonation at all. I just took her for another long hard drive and this is the happiest I've been after a mod. The T28 gave me trouble from the start and even the change from stock to chipped doesn't compare to the change from chipped to E05. This mod definitely gets my approval and recommendation.

No, I have never dyno'd the Audi. We won't know how much of a gain the turbo was over the chip, but at least we will know what the turbo makes. I hate to say this, but the dyno is going to have to wait until Friday. I was unable to get Tuesday off from work, but I already have Friday off because of the holiday. Sorry guys but we are going to have to wait until Friday.

Until then, if you local Socallers want to get together and check out the car let me know. I'm up for some evening GTGs.

    Derrick,

I'm interested for the test pipe but I'm concerning the consequence of de-cat as the EGT sensor will reduce fuel supply when they sensed the air flow increased substantially after de-cat. I'm wondering if you put a dummy sensor inside the test pipe to trick the computer ??

The REVO software simply turns off the sensor. No check engine light, no change to fuel delivery. Trust me, with the E05 making 1.5 bar and holding 1 bar to redline, I would notice a loss in fuel and so would my knock sensors!

    Derrick,

Thanks for your response and this is exactly the same thing that Revo Mitch told me, he can do something inside the software to trick the computer. It is easy for him.

By the way, how's the low rev after de-cat as I'm afriad the low rev will be lost in the jungle if I de-cat.

    Avant Mat,

The low end feels the same. Like I said above the boost comes on at about the same time as stock ~ 2500 RPM. I really haven't felt any real loss lower then that.

    giago,

The test pipe is $199.00 for EuroCode. I don't have a definite date for the nitrous install, although I already have the kit and it's just sitting in my garage. I will probably wait to install it when I get the FMIC from EuroCode. The reason for that is the FMIC comes with aluminum piping all the way to the throttle body, so taping it will be much easier and smarter then taping the rubber stock boot. The kit I am using is from NOS. It is their wet system (both nitrous and fuel are sprayed from the nozzle).

Hey Derrick, can I ask why you went to the E05 instead of the regular (non sport ) k04? Because if i recall, the E05 is a modified K03 turbo with bigger fan inside the turbo where as the k04 is just a bigger turbo than the k03? So I'm thinking wouldn't the k04 yield better gains? I don't know I was just thinking that, what do you think?

K03 is no bigger than a k04. Has a bigger compressor housing, as does the e-05 if you can see in the pics.

So the k03 and the k04-15 is the same size? so basically size and power wise, it's k03>k04-15>then e05 right?

Essentially, yes. Although the e-05 isn't as popular, nor tried and true like the k04. It really is a good little turbo though. HAs great torque.

Thanks for the kind words guys!

    Rich,

Keep your eyes peeled for the Linda O' Neil stuff, it will be coming soon.

    davidkae,

The exhaust got just slightly louder. But it still almost sounds stock at idle. Only after the boost comes on do you even notice that there is an exhaust installed. I can't be happier with the Milltek.

    sweettalker,

As David pointed out, the housings are the same size. The E05 has a bigger inlet then the K04, bigger compressor wheel, and more aggressive blades. In other words, it has more potential to make power.

    Avant Mat,

Glad to here that you will go with the test pipe. This is the next best bang for the buck mod next to a chip. For $200, you are getting an extra 15 HP! And that is dyno proven not just a guestimate or BS. It was proven on 2 different cars on MAHA dynos.

The Ko3 and the Ko4 are the same physically but the Ko4 has different internals.. The Eo5 has a slightly larger cold side than the Ko4..

That's when the nitrous and front mount intercooler get installed. Then it's bye bye stage 3 cars!
