Not going tomorrow, but I did do my first autocross last Saturday. It was such a blast. I got so hooked that I actually bought an extra set of wheels to thrash around in cuz autocrossing totally jacks up your tires. Make sure you have at least 40 psi's in your tires cold and keep checking your tires after each run to make sure it doesnt shoot up too much. Have fun dude!

Nice, I will see you there then. I will be in a silver b5 with audizine stickers, you can see it in my sig, and my friend will have a black b6. I went the other route and put 40 in front and 38 in back. That was just kind of a guess though. I will see how it works tomorow. I'm gonna be getting there probably around 8:15 or so, I will see you then.

from what i understand, they are happier if you get there early and then help out with stuff. so i figure since its my first time, i might as well get there on the early side. you would probably be fine at 8:30.

my fisrt time, but my buddy is a pretty hard core autocross person and he is where i get my information from. so i just listen to what he says and dont ask questions . As far as helmets, i got the impression from the website that they might have them. But i am planning on borrowing my buddies just in case they dont.

amazing, i had so much fun. 122 cars raced in total.. 15 in my class.... dan (the a4 dude from here) was in my class, hes a cool dude. It took me a while to get rid of my bad habbits (like riding the clutch and keeping a hand on the shifter like i do in normal driving because i downshift to slow down usually... but at this course you stayed in 3rd.. and would downshift into 2nd once. throughout the whole thing... so that was my main problem.

but all in all i did better and better each time (my springs have killed my stock shocks after 20k miles... and the stock wrx tires are absolute crap) my best time was a 58.1xx dan in the a4's best was a 57.9 i think? or 57.8? so it was pretty close... i came in 7th... 3rd place was only a slow 57 i think.. so i wasn't tooo far off.

all in all I LOVE IT!! can't wait till the next event on the 11th!!

jonah, bristol's not that far from me. i might make the trip up if it's really good. do u think it would be an issue if i'm under 18? it technically is for the BMW CCA one i go to in NJ, but that one's too small and i wanna go to a more serious one like yurs appears to be. 155 cars is a lot. i'll prolly hit u up on AIM to ask u more tho

i got a badass helmet already. it's a nice bell one, total overkill but it looks phat. wutever, i'll just give them my chalk, they're not gonna be experts on IDs. but i see no reason y i can't travel up there for the 11th. the other beauty of the helmets is that if they give me $hit, i just throw the hlmet on, pretend to be my dad or sumtin, anf then just go out there, they never kno. so either way i'll definately try and make it up there

my car's a pig bc i'm not gettin chipped until Waterfest, but maybe i'll bring my dad's mini and tear $hit up. that thing was made for Auto-Xing. mine would just get raped, especially with the 18s on, waaaay to much unsprung weight on that beast with the Mille Miglias on

Small but important tip for first-timers: avoid setting your e-brake after your runs!! it's 2nd nature for most of us, so it can be tough to remember. your brakes wll be very hot, so prolonged e-brake (or regular brakes) application while stopped could mess up your pad & rotor. thankfully most AutoX venues are flat and you won't need to set brakes. this tip also applies to track days at the end of each run session. I've invested in a cheap pair of wheel chocks from Wal-mart for those occasions where the ground isn't level.

yeah, it was a good time. got to meet jonah and a bunch of other people. me and my buddy had to hold it down for audi though, we were the only two there. i had alot of fun and did pretty well. D Piddy dont worry about your car being slow, i have a stock 2.8 with suspension and tires, so you cant have much less power then me. the course itself was .7 miles long and i was able to wind it up to redline in second and keep it there for the rest of the track. you got 5 runs for your 25 bucks. one thing i didnt realize was how much autocrossing eats up tires. it chewed up my falken's. i didnt lose all that much tread, but its just kind of chewed up. it was definitely worth it though.

I definitely could improve by being smoother on the brakes and turn in but thats next time i guess. if you are thinking about going, i would recomend it, its a pretty relaxed and nice atmosphere.

EDIT: an AZ meet at the next one would be cool. more audis need to represent.
