Car re-keyed.

How much do you guys think it would cost to get our cars re-keyed and two new keys? Thanks

buy a blank on e-bay for 5 bucks and (depending on the dealership) get it cut from $20 - $80 (vw dealer is cheaper) OR you can send a digital image of your key to someone on ebay and they can cut you a new one.

hmm... that sucks... are you sure they were stolen? cause thats a lot of trouble... ignition, doors, etc... probably a new immobilizer code or something

Ignition, driver's door, trunk, and glove box I believe are the places that would have to be re-keyed.

The immobilizer will need to be adapted to the new keys; this will prevent the old key's immobilizer chips from working in the car anymore.

Delete the drivers door lock key and have that remote deactivated. All they could really do then is break a window and try to start a car that has immob.

i dunno , but just to get a key cut was 120 and then to have that same key programmed was 130....at least here in west palm...

Update: They got stolen at work, so last night they went over the security footage. I called this morning and they say they are questioning an employee today, but wouldn't tell me who it was. So hopefully I'll get them back. Thanks for all the help, I'll let you guys know what happens

I had to replace a single flip key with remote. I went to audi...b/c i heard stories about the eBay keys not always working. So i ordered 1 key through the stealership. key blade, laser cut to match, remote, and reprogramming was $269.15. sucked...but gotta have a spare.

since b6a4 also stated about 120+130, ~ 250. i'd say you're looking at $500-$550 for 2 keys

Well, if you don't get them back, I would call your insurance company and see if they would cover the cost of replacing everything. You might want to mention, it's either that, or you'll be calling back in a couple of days to file a claim for a stolen vehicle!

oh man, i thought i was going to see pics of a poor keyed up b6 and a drama story of a pissed off ex girlfriend or something.

man those keys are pricey and to have to redo all the locks... holy moly. good luck. i hope your wallet doesn't take too bad a beating.

Haha welll they confronted an employee(wouldn't tell me who) and I guess he confessed to doing it, gave them my key and they fired him. They said he did it cause he was pissed that I was quiting... Wow thank god they found it.
