im not gunna start a big argument, im not gunna preach what i believe, ill just tell you to go see this movie and make your own judgements about everything

i loved the movie... and I particularly loved the fact that there were about 5 conservative teenagers outside before the movie started preaching to all of us about this and that (their comments filled with such ignorance and stupidity and they got shot down beautifully), holding up vote bush signs and the likes.... but after they watched the movie... oh wait.. they were no where to be found. i found that pretty funny.

    go see the movie.

moore definitely brought up some interesting points in bowling for columbine, i think i'll try to see this one too. Sometimes its nice to see a view from the other extreme rather than the media and government.

this one has a little less humor, and more scenes that make you say "wow"

i just got back from seeing it a second time (went with my mom and grandmother this time). a matinae and the place was pretty full. All the bad press moore gets he LOVES because it just advertises the movie more and more. He says "bring it on" hah.

the second time through, it just got better. This movie is edited absolutly brilliantly. You will appreciate it.

This movie was fantastic. It was hilarious at points but tended to be really sad and infuriating. The look on the congressman's face at the very end is priceless.

I abhor Bush....but Moore's POV has only a couple good arguments and the rest are either straight lies or rhetoric that just can't stand on it's own two legs.

Everyone should definitly go see the movie just because it bashes Bush...but if you know the facts you'll be appalled at the unfounded statements in the movie

I saw it. Its a movie, and i looked at it only as that. It made fair points and unfair points. It saw bush answering questions, without hearing the question that was asked. Comments were taken out of context, and blame was placed where it shouldnt have been. I hope the movie does more then its goal. (not getting bush re-elected)

The movie shows a member of the house saying, "You think we read these things?" Obviously the fact that the house doesnt read bills is no falt of bush, clinton, or any other president that has held office. However, the movie wanted to pin points like this onto bush...but thats neither here nor there. My point is, congress needs to opperate differently. That point is something that the movie brings up, but no one ever talks about it, because they are too busy talking about how bad bush sucks, which is the obvious message of the movie.

So i leave you with this question: If a person is only bright enough to catch the obvious message of the movie, should i really wait around to hear what they have to say about it?

Wait, who is that question aimed at, Dusty? Or is it for all of us, or is it a rhetorical questions, or.?.?.?

Thanks for stating the obvious, except for the fact that I don't think the intention or point of the movie was to show how "bad Bush sucks" (well, his cabinet and politicians in general) that all pretty much speaks for itself.

All I want to know is....why do people clap for points that they agree with on the movie, or yell things like "Die you ****ing bitch!"? They are yelling/clapping at the movie screen. They can't hear you, it's not like Moore is doing a private screening in there or something. Oh, and yes, someone really did say "Die you ****ing bitch" during the movie. He was a middle aged guy too.

Overall I thought the movie was absolutely hilarious, I watched 2 days in it a row.

I am not going to waste my money to see bullsht that isnt true. those numbers are blown up and micahel moore can suck a big one. its all one sided most of the stuff is probably wrong but it does raise eyebrows. I mean what if 9/11 had happened during the clinton era, oh we would just have something like somalia or just launch some cruise missles because Clinton was too busy getting his dick sucked. btw Bush didnt go to war, last time I checked Kerry voted for it, so you get somebody that acts on what they say or you get kerry that goes back on what they say

The question isnt aimed at anyone. Its just food for thought, when this movie is brought up. In what way did i state the obvious? I dont think anyone in this thread talked about anything i talked about... The point of my post was only to bring up the fact that the movie had more points then the obvious anti-bush one, and that its sad that no one ever talks about those points. They only talk about the obvious anti-bush point.

Ah OK, gotcha. Just wasn't quite sure what you were saying actually. But you're right, it touches on many other issues and problems with the American goverment/politics/system that really doesn't get discussed...like ever!

And for that, JBM, you should "waste your money" on this movie and see a few things that you'll never see on the nightly "news".

All i got to say is that I am interested in seeing it and I don't see it as a waste of money, especially for someone that is planning on going to the US Naval Academy (JBM). For those of you that have not been to luxurious Afghanistan or unforgettable Iraq with good ole Uncle Sam I suggest you talk to some of us that have and get an idea of how it is living and surviving in these hell holes for the war on terrorism. Our Operation Iraqi freedom soldiers don't all have nice things to say about the situation. Spending a year over there with a 2 week R and R and then get sent right back a few months later to fight the war on "terrorism" while you try to make each day last from start to end without any deaths or IED's blowin your ass off. I support my commander in chief, but do I agree with what the hell is going on right now? Society gets so complacent. If they don't have to deal with it directly it gets forgotten or put on the back burner. It is normal. I enjoy seeing other points of view on life. I look forward to seeing how our leaders get portrayed in this film. It is a documentary, and will be entertaining.

HICK - I respect your point of view very much. Admirable sentiments indeed. If only more people could see things in a similar manner, we might be better off. Ah well...

...and to make a point pertinent to this thread, I have yet to see "Fahrenheit 9/11" but plan on doing so at some point. While I'm not a fan of Dubya's cronies in any way, shape, or form, I'm not in any particular rush. I feel that I stay well informed enough to be able to draw my own conclusions about events without Michael Moore being in my face about it.

“There's a gullible side to the American people. They can be easily misled.” – Michael Moore, in his book, "Dude, Where’s My Country?"

''They are possibly the dumbest people on the planet … Our stupidity is embarrassing." – Michael Moore, in his book, "Dude, Where’s My Country?"

Kind of funny actually, the irony is in that the audience he sets out to attract.

I agree with those quotes - the American people are for the most part extremely gullible and ignorant. Did you need Michael Moore to tell you that? I think those are the people he's trying to attract and open up, unfortunately I don't think those people are the ones seeing his movie...

I wasn't trying to say anyone here is dumb or ignorant, sorry if I gave that impression.

However, Moore's goal was to "sway" people. There are people on the fence. Most of us are intelligent enough that we will not be swayed one way or the other by a movie. But, there's a huge percentage of people that will be motivated to vote against Bush, due to this propoganda. (meaning, these people would not have bother voting, even though they were anti-bush, just because they were not motivated enough).

The biggest part that bothers me is that Moore admits his movie is satire, and not fact. But, I see many people running around regurgitating things said in his movie, based on quotes out of context, etc... thinking that it's fact b/c it was in a "documentary".

Hey, I'm all for having different opinions, that's what makes this country go round. Many of my best friends and family are Democrats, and I'm a Republican. But, people need to learn the facts, and not base their decisions on things they watch on the evening news, CNN, and headlines they read on the internet. It's all a lot of crap, which Moore himself points out in "Bowling for Columbine".

According to the conclusion (of the movie), it was rather a documentary of the rich elite american society vs poor poeple. He goes on to tell of how rich Bush and his family is, his "base' (the have and have-mores) and their greed. How America looks down on the poor people and ghettos, but those poor poeple are always the first to step up and fight for this country. Etc shit like that. And this whole said war is just about that. The rich man keeping the poor man down. Oh and he tells more stuff on how crooked Bush and his family is.

You can make your own judgment on Bush's mentality. I think hes quite the funny guy, funny like how you would point and laugh at a retarded kid.

Just remember: You can change the puppet, but you still won't fix the problems that most are complaining of. Kerry is a very rich man too. He just spits out crap you want to hear. As do all polititicians. Everything Kerry has said he has contradicted in his actions while he was senator of my state.

I think Bush sounds dumb at times too. I'm sure he has a crooked past, but not any more than most of the presidents we've had. People need to look at the issues. You don't vote for a man, you vote for a party. Our government is not run by one man.

The other day when Edwards was selected as Kerry's running mate, the stock market plummeted. Why? Because the intelligent people that manage money for investors realized that there is a possibility these two idiots could actually get elected. That could seriously wreck our economy with the socialist economic policies they would endorse.

    Bottom line:

Republicans = Capitalists. The believe in little government intervention (read: low taxes for all). You earn your money, you decide how to spend it.

Democrats = Socialists. They believe the government should make the decisions. Tax the public and let the goverment decide how to spend it.

I think many lose site of this clear-cut difference in the two parties.

I think that has a lot to do with the fact that Bush and his Republican party also represent many of those stock holders as well as look out for their best interests. Besides, there are dozens of other factors involved in market fluctuations, I would hardly think that it had to do with the fear of, "two idiots actually getting elected"

Um, not so much anymore. It's actually rather interesting how the party policies are starting to change. Yes, the Republicans still push for low taxes for "all" and such, but their stance on government's been changing a lot. Many of the "neo-con" policies are pushing for more and more government intervention and creating a larger and more invasive, imo, government.

And Democrats are socialists. They have more socialist-esque policies, but they're not socialists. Nothing in politics is as easily defined as you make it seem here. I'm not meaning to harp on you, I'm really not (political discussions can be divisive and I try to avoid them for that reason), but it's a lot more complicated than just Capitalists vs Socialists...
