BAD news from AMS on their SSK...

I'm really fed up with AMS. They have beem promising me for over two months a SSK for the 6 speed. Well today I called them again not only to be told the same BS put now they are dropping the height adjustability for the SSK on the six speed. This was a major reason for me to get an AMS SSK. So basically I waited all these months for nothing. They are not even sure if the height of their shifter will be the same or shorter than the stock one.

I need some feedback on the NeuSpeed 6 speed SSK. Is it shorter than the stock OEM shifter? I was happy with their SSK on the 5 speed, it felt solid and it was shorter than stock. Are there any known shifting issues on the 6 speed using this SSK?

I would appreciate some feedback ASAP because I have to make a decision by tomorrow morning 08:45 Am California time

I love my neuspeed SS. No problems whatsoever and the height I feel is just perfect still when on the armrest. Heres the page I did on the install with before and after videos.

Same here, i love my NS SSK.. Neo has Neuspeed as well, and his is a 6sp.. Im sure he'll chime in soon

Yeah, I like mine. It's much much better than stock. The throws are tighter, and crisper. Less play in the stick.

It is a little notchy, but thats okay for now. I was also hoping that the AMS SSK would be available for us.

I'm not sure, but doesn't Stratmosphere also make a SSK for the 6 speed, or is it just for the five. Their SS looks to be of awesome quality. Thinking of getting it over the Neuspeed SS for my 5 speed.

My choice would be AMS. If the height is not adjustable, but it was still "shorter", I'd get it over the NS SS. It's disappointing to hear that though. I know Marc has been workign on it a lot. We talked at length about it, how people were complaining about how long it was taking,... etc, etc. I was watching him CNC one of the prototypes and he also showed me how one part of the OEM base was causing a problem with shifting. Marc is a perfectionist and he will not release it until it is proven to be working and reliable. He's got a lot on his shoulders too, with AMS (it's basically him doing all the R&D). So it's gonna take some time unfortunately. His machinist also left recently. Beleive me, he's workign on it,... I saw it. It was just as nice as the 5 spd SS I have. Why it may not be hieght adjustable though wasn't mentioned when I was there, so maybe he encountered another problem. I think it would still be worth the wait though if it was only throw adjustable.


Note: I have driven an A4 with the NS SS and I felt it was not as nice as the AMS. The whole thing seemed to be pushed forward from where the OEM gear shift sits. I also felt it was "clunky", stiff and notchy.

Keep in mind that the VW/Audi gear box is not the best design in terms of smooth shifting. But to me, the AMS SS seemed to improve this, making shifting not only shorter, but nicer and more precise. I have a NS SS in my '00 VW 1.8t and it felt much the same as the one in the A4. It feels like it's passing through very viscous fluid, while the AMS SS is passing through water.

I have the Strat for B6 6-speed, very happy with it. Height is the same as stock, non-adjustable. Throw is either 20% or 40% reduction, selectable at install. I went the 40% route, suits me fine.

I love my AMS but never drove the NS. Freinds who've tried mine like the short throws but mostly comment on the way it feels putting it into gear. I'd have to agree w/ A4NCAR.
