WETTERAUER... im in socal and im wondering if anyone knows where i can get it?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
i was talking to bbaudi and he said the wetterauer chip is a good chip because the numbers are pretty close to the GIAC chip but it was TUV approved and its also a lot cheaper. the price on their website is 299 i think. compared to 495 for the GIAC.

anyone have any thoughts on the WETT chip vs. GIAC?

and i know i can get teh GIAC at torque factory through jeff moss and i can just run to him if i have problems...

but this wett chip is looking pretty good actually. i just dont want to have to send it in to get it socketed...

Wett has some authorized resellers in CA. Here's the list:

    ABD Racing
    29 Adams St., Suite B-27
    Riverside, CA 32504
    909.351.9566

    Stuart Schikora
    Schikora Engineering
    Mercedes Tuning
    310.459.0170

You can give either one a call to get the chip put in. Takes about an hour (I had mine done at Wetterauer's office in Indiana).

how do you like the chip?

if its only a 1.0 bar chip how is it that the numbers are practically the same as the GIAC?

btw bar is really decieving. my giac claims 1.2 but im only spiking .9 bar and holding .8 bar. it still pulls real good though.

My chip is for the 3.0, not the 1.8T. The Wett chip has been the best one out there for the 3.0 that is strong and reliable. I don't know of anyone who has the chip for the 1.8T, but there's got to be some of them out there.

I heard from someone, who was told by a Wetterauer user, that the 1.8t chip is being R&D'd still and that they are putting out a bunch of different ones, testing it. I know someone also who had some issues with it (pinging,..etc). I'd look into it some more before getting it.

I don't agree with the US Wetterauer releasing a bunch of different chips for customers to "try out" w/o them being tested out first by them and proven to work- if that is in fact what they are doing.

It's gonna cost.... Neuspeed is pretty cheap, aren't they? Check out MTM or AMS instead (but $$$$). Maybe REVO as well.

well the reason i wanted wett was because they posted pretty high gains but were cheaper...

GIAC and REVO seem pretty good but are on the pricey side (both close to 500 iirc)

wett and neuspeed are relatively cheaper. wett is very aggressive like giac but neuspeed is pretty mild...

    That's not pricey. Stage 1 & 1+ will average $500/$1000+ respectively.

Being in CA, I'd be concerned about those "numbers" with 91 octane. Ask first. Also, agressive chips are not always best for the engine. Any tuner can program SW to be aggressive. But getting the timing, boost, A/F,.. and everything else to work in balance takes a certain tuner "magic" to produce. I'd look at AMS before GAIC or NS.

AMS chips are only conservative in the sense that they are programmed to work in a perfect balance for the optimum performance, with reliability, and w/o only focusing on high numbers. I have an AMS Stage 1 in my '00 VW 1.8t and it has performed flawlessly for 66K miles. Good power and very smooth. It was also one of the better rated chips in a magazine shootout. Trust me, Marc is a perfectionist. The chips he releases are thoroughly tested and from what I saw of the MAHA dyno runs, the graphs looked extremely good and produced very decent power. His claims will be delivered. Plus, he's in CA and using 91 octane, so there won't be any "unforeseen" issues with the chip being programmed for a higher octane and "guess worked" for lower octane.

Call and speak with Steven or Marc about any questions you may have.

wow seems like you really know your stuff A4NCAR...

how do you feel about GIAC as opposed to AMS...

i know moxy has AMS and he really babies his car and only puts in the highest quality products. the reason i would choose GIAC is because my work place is literally walking distance from jeff moss at torque factory.

carson, on the other hand, is a pretty far drive from me.

neuspeed ive heard is pretty far north..

and wett... well i think you guys have persuaded me away from the wett chip...

i havnt really thought about revo yet... but thats an option too...

    where to get REVOd?
