Thumbs up How Difficult Is It to Install S4 Bi-Xenon Ecodes?

Guest-only advertisement. Register or Log In now!
Purchasing a S4 Ecode Bi-Xenon Kit and was wondering if these were Plug-n-Play. How difficult is the installation and was wondering if anyone had DIY on it. Any install or operation issues (i.e. autoleveling and such)?

    TIA,
    Oenophile

Its all plug and play.. Its a really tight fit on the passenger side thou, since the wiring harness *barely* has enough slack in it..

The s4 bixenon's all should come with ballasts and bulbs. The ones that Saturnine got has ballasts and bulbs included.

From what I know, they all come with D1S bulb. Valeo did not make any D2S bi-xenon projectors.

I have tried. My wiring harness on the passenger is not long enough at all.

I would have to build an extend harness to go with it. Now I have only the driver side working.

If you look on the inside of the pass side fender withthe headlight out, there should be a plastic clip that holds that harness in. Take the harness out of that clip, and it should give you some slack. Then, as you push the housing in, connect the harness as soon as you can and push it all teh way in.

Feel like almost breaking it.. you dont want to have a tight wire because wire will be hardened and degrade as it ages, you dont really want to stretch it too tight or else you may have a bad wiring harness which will be costly to replace later, especially when you have electrical problems.

I am trying to build an plug and play extension harness with OEM parts. Researching right now. I am half way done.

    Having only 1 light sucks.

It's not tight enough to cause any sort of degradation. It's taut for sure, but not tight enough to cause rubbing and degredation.

No. Manual leveling is different from auto-leveling.

In Germany, all A4 with halogen headlight have manual leveling, which means inside the cabin, there is a oem knob switch in the dash that let you adjust the headlight level, up and down with 4 different step level. The switch is somehow connect to the manual leveling motor inside the headlight.

But for A4 with xenon headlight, they all have auto-leveling sensor build into the suspension and then sensor will talk to the ECU which then talk to the autolevel motor to adjust the level depending on the load of your car.

Once I can get it to work, I can adjust the headlight level up and down as needed.

and no... i am not talking about the adjustment screw in which they are used to align the headlight somewhat.

    Manual leveling is another stuff..

I have seen some people have retrofitted manual leveling even on their xenon car which already has autoleveling, they make something to override the autoleveling which is kinda cool.

How can you adjust the headlight horizontally AND vertically??

after the headlight is installed on the car, you will ONLY see 1 adjustment screws... is that for horizontal or vertical?

    What about the other one??

The second adjustment screw isnt in the same place as US-spec etc.. If you look near the turn signal side of the light, there is a hole in the fender.. That's the new place where you stick the Allen key to adjust the vertical/horizontal (i cant remember which) position..

Take a look at the other light if you havent installed it yet..

So here is my solution for the short wiring harness on the passenger side, One end plug right into the original harness, the other end plug into the headlight. This is made of 100% pure OEM Audi parts:
