    Eddie,
I just realized I never updated on this. After getting VAG'd rest of the world, the mod works great.

    That's some good news...
I know some B6ers are finding out that this mod doesn't work for them and looks as if you've found the answer.

Eddie, FatAuto's Write up on AudiWorld (that you linked in your original post, lol) states the VAG-COM portion of the install as the very first step...

stupid question....after doing this mod do you still have to pull the switch out to activate the fogs or are they supposed to automatically come on with the city lights? bc if you have to pull the switch out then it worked....

Mod didn't work on my '04 A4 1.8T. Think I should get vagged to RTW? No city lights, just parking lights.

sprint, yes you will still have to pull the knob to activate the fogs, the ONLY thing this mod does is allow you to use your fogs WITHOUT your low beams on... that is it.

phoenix, yes, you need to VAG your car to RTW in order for this to work...

Sounds good. I'm new to Audis and asked if this could be done like my VWs and got no response. Can you do this to a B6 Avant with halogen lights? I guess it would work with the parking lights? If not I have Ecode HIDs coming from ECSTuning SOMEDAY!!!!!! Good write up an appreciate any info.....

The RTW setting will allow the fogs to stay on with the highbeams. That works regardless of the wiring modification.

First and foremost, to FatAuto for figuring this out and Eddie Man for putting it up on this forum...

I just did this mod after VAGing my car to RTW (B7 A4) and getting rid of that infernal seat belt chime and activating the remote windows.

I also had some difficulty getting the headlight switch out and I didn't want to break anything. I remembered someone saying that you can access the harness through the side panel where the fuses are... sooooooooo what I did was, put the switch in the position where you can pull it out, but while pulling, I applied pressure from behind after removing that little panel on the side... worked like a charm.

I'm sure XCELR8 has figured out a way to do it by now, but this is just for those who would like to try it in the future, it makes it a great deal easier when you don't have to worry about breaking something. I have no idea why mine didn't pop out as easy as some of you described.

Also, the main reason I tried this is because I happened to have those quick connect things sitting around and they didn't do squat for me... I ended up hard wiring it and electrical taping that sucker because the wire tap probably didn't have a good connection or the male quick connect wasn't properly attached... Either way, it works great now and I can drive around with my fogs on to my heart's content

    1. Put the knob in the auto position and push in with a bit of force and begin turning the knob COUNTER CLOCKWISE, once the switch is in between the "O" and "Auto" position, you will hear/feel a slight click and the knob will go in slightly

    2. While still turning COUNTER CLOCKWISE and pushing in slightly, move the knob all the way to the "O" position and push a bit harder, the knob will then push in a bit more

    3. while still pushing in on the knob (at its second "pushed in" position) begin moving the knob back towards the "Auto" position or CLOCKWISE, the knob should stop in between the "O" and "Auto" positions, then just pull out, the whole assembly should come out...

Find someone on the boards with a Vag-Com cable. There are plenty of people more than willing to help out. The dealer will probably charge you an hourly rate to do this.

    Where are you from?

Does the VAG have to be RTW, will the Euro Setting work with this mod?

I finally did mine tonight. Works great car is Vag-commed already to rest of the world for lighting settings.

Only slight modification from the DIY was instead of taking out the switch i just opened the fuse access panel and reached in and disconnected the wiring for the headlight switch. And if my big hands can do that anyone else should be able to.

    Thanks!

This worked for me also...BUT had a small problem. My right side xenon light keeps flickering. I have the ecode xenon headlights from Jens(lowesta4). Anyone know what the problem is??? They way I connected wire #1 and #2 was with an additional wire just tapping into each one (So nothing was cut, just the insulation was taken off a little on each wire #1 and #2). TIA
