engine build with pictures

There are 3 allen bolts that remove the EGR. The filter came with the turbo, but all you would need is a filter with about a 1 inch hole. Then I took a piece of the exsisting pipe and cut it to about 2 inches and clamped it on both sides. Link for the plate.

It was very easy to do. No light for any thing accept an 02 sensor.

So when you remove it, all your doing is keeping the oil inside the motor, thats all that block off plate does?

Anyone know where else to get one?

Yea me too, gotta find another source for that block off plate. Calling IE first, Ill let you know

EDIT, IE doesnt have a phone number, or one I can find. I think itll throw a CEL but heres a fix for that

It actually blocks off where air goes in. If you were to remove it you'd have a huge vacuum leak. Also is there a Lakeland meet this weekend or was it last week. No CEL in my case, but I can't promise it. IE also sells a resistor in place of the air pump.

when I had the head off and stripped i looked at it and actually the pump pushes air right into the exaust runner after the valve what for I have no iddea...

yeah mine can't go there the maf and pipes will pas by there but there is room under the intake manifold

exactly, I guess your not aware of what it does, its supposed to heat up the cat on initial startup

As a jet engine designer, I can vouch that ceramic coatings really work to keep the temperatures down. (Cooling air does too.)

i'll ceramic coat everything too, that stuff really works, they use it in jet engines

What'd you get done and how much? I'm thinking no more than 10k on mods

No I took my current 1.8T, then bored and stroked it with all forged internals, then port/polished and rebuilt the head with all new internals and more aggressive cams. I'm going to run revo BT programming for the time being. I might go with Chris Tapp or custom GIAC tuning down the road. Running 430cc injectors currently. Doing so only because I'm at 5000ft. ECU will compensate for the 2.0. If I lived at sea level, I might need more fueling to keep up with the 2.0. Might need 550cc injectors with 3" maf, or 630cc injectors with 3.5" maf. Maybe also a bosch 044 fuel pump.

Fully built head with labor: new cat 3651 cams, cat springs, new retainers, ferrea exhaust valves, new hydro lifters, new seals and gaskets, port and polished runners on exhaust and intake side done for ~$1600. Got a deal though since he took so long with it. Should be ~$2000 for this work. [email protected], check out his website but don't go off his rates posted, call him instead.

Internals on the bottom are eurospec knife edged forged crank. Eurospec racing rods, JE 82.5mm pistons with pro rings, new bearings for ~$2250 (retails ~$2700)

Local machine shop (AMS) did the mockup, boring, honing, cleaning, and balancing of the bottom end. They charged me ~$450.

Spent about +/- $800-1000 on audi oem parts like the gaskets, nuts, bolts, Timing belt, water pump, oil pump, TB tensioner, fluids, etc...

So $5K+ at least to get all this done. This is without any labor costs to disassemble and reassemble the engine in the car.

eurospec forged crank knife edged lightened and all the bling carillo rods and mahle pistons there is also a girdle from eurospec to reinforce the bottom
the head is ported and polished gasket matched with cams supertech valves and ferrea springs and retainers....Mike told me the max the oem ecu will allow is 10200rpms and I intend to try at least 9000rpms

See the aluminum plate with the 2 allen bolts just before the coolant flange, thats the EGR block off plate. $20 from IE. And you can get rid of all that piping that runs along the valve cover. I also installed a small K&N for a breather, also eliminating more useless piping.

from that k n filter you should route to the catch can if it's not much trouble I'll improvise something for the air pump right now the biggest mistery is to fit the air intake together with a filter and maf

I see that and already thought about it what size is your piping Mine will be 3.5 inch thick I am not sure if it will pass the light but my other option will be on the other side behind the rdiator

what you see in the pic is the latest status some parts will go to ceramic coating then I'll do all the turbo lines, then the maf and intake...I still have to get the intercooler from 034..
