its the speaker for a speakerphone on models that came with a car phone, thats what the rj-45 jack is for inside the armrest too...

You need to change the settings with Vag-Com

here is the trick to unlocking the "secret EQ"

To access the EQ all you have to do is turn off your car and remove the key. Then hold down the number '5' on your CD changer/Radio preset control and power on the head unit.

You will see '55555555' if your radio is in stock form. These numbers represent 4 EQ settings each for front and back. They are, in order from left to right (courtesy of LCP on the AudiWorld forums):

1. Front low bass
2. Front mid bass
3. Front midrange
4. Front treble
5. Rear low bass
6. Rear mid bass
7. Rear midrange
8. Rear treble

To adjust the settings, use your volume knob to change the flashing digit to a value from 1 to 9 (1 being the lowest level, 9 being the highest) and press P.SCAN to go to the next digit. When you get to the end it will wrap back to the first digit.

The most popular settings for bose seem to be 88698869, however after a bit of testing with my favorite music, I found that to sound boomy and hollow and have since gone with 76567656. My next task will be to increase the directional (midrange and treble) sound on the front speakers only to bring the Bose sound stage back towards the front without sacrificing bass out of my rear speakers.

The best setting that I have heard for the non-bose system is 38679657. It still doesn't sound like bose, and certainly not like a good after-market setup, but it's a major improvement for those that wish a simple change to improve their overall sound and reduce distortion.

I have tried this on my buddies b6, but Don't know what buttons to push cause everyone says different ones. So which one work for the b6 sympathy stereo?

My speaker are on the b pillars, and i have the other mic hooked to the middle sun visor. I want to cut out the black box that is under my arm rest which holds the phone jack. Has anyone does this before?

Is there any way to override the climate control so you can have the A/C on whenever you want? I live in the Seattle area and so it's common for it to be in the upper 30s (F) and raining. De-frosting the windows is (obviously) much more effective with the A/C.

For tip cars.... I noticed that when in tip mode when you push the pedal all the way to the floor it doesnt shift until redline or unless you lift your foot from WOT or shift with the tip

I found that everyone only knows codes through like 32.

What about everything past 32? Mine goes to 72 and has readings for each one....

I found a mod to change dual-climate controls to sync so when you - or + on one side it does it on both, but now I can't figure out how to unsync them.... anyone?

It was hold Auto and + for 3 seconds, but it doesn't do it reverse.

Not sure if this is in the thread already I didn't read the whole thing but...

LED's up by the sunroof dial/cabin lights that shine down on the shifter. Really useful if you need to see something at night but don't want to blind yourself with the cabin light!

if you shut the car off, then take the key out, adn put it back in, it doesnt make the dinging noise when you open the doors....

on the concert stereo, when you turn it on, the volume gradually increases to where you left it, (happens quickly, but it does "ramp up" the volume, it doesnt just BLARE it)

if you have the fogs on, all you have to do is shut off the headlights and all fogs will shut off as well

if you want the one touch up and down of the windows, from the button on the door, every time you disconnect the battery, you must hold the switch down for 15 seconds AFTER the window is down, then hold it up for the same 15 seconds...this will program the one-touch up/down
the rears only go auto down from the factory, you must use the speaker wire mod to make the rears do one-touch up too.


try using single electrode spark plugs instead of dual electrodes ( on the 1.8T it smooths out chipped applications, especially if gapped to .026" or less)

the little button that shuts off the motion sensor, resets every time you open the doors, so if you press it, then shut the door, but forgot your ballcap on teh seat and you open the door to get it, you must press the button again, to re-dis-able the motion sensor

the phone jack in the console is an RJ-11, RJ-45 is cat-5 ethernet


this hint is for all cars, not just audis
if you dont like the wind blowing in your face when you put a front window down all the way, try putting the rear window on the same side down halfway, this will direct more air in the front, and out the back, instead of blowing it across your face
ie, drivers window all the way down, drivers side rear window down 4-6"

If you are on the highway cruising and want to have nice airflow but not the noise, tilt the sunroof up and crack the back passenger window about an inch. Great wind flow with minimal noise.

I noticed on my 01 that when you turn the car off (with the switch on) the headlights shut off but the marker lights stay on. Anyway to have it shut all the lights off?

lol i will be sure to do that next time. I tend to turn my marker lights on cause i have all my windows tinted with 5% tint and it makes it kind of har to see my gauges a certin times of the day so i turn on my marker lights and once in a while forget there on when i get out. Guess prior owner killed the chime for it as there is none. I'm going to look into re-wiring the lights on the cluster to a switched power rather then the headlight switch.
